Motion was made, seconded <br /> <br />and carried to adopt the report of the Cm~:zittee. <br /> <br /> The Co~ittee'~!so stated that they were not ready to report on petitions for <br />a lateral sewer in the. alley between 7th and 8th Streets from Blair to Van Bm, em <br />Streets, and for a sm;~er in the alley between 3rd and Wth Avenues from., the west side <br /> <br />of High Street east to Willa;~ette River, and that they would t~old the s~ne for <br /> <br />furti~er consideration? <br /> <br />Striker of_the Fire & ~Yater Committee reco, z~.ended that the request <br /> <br />of N. R. Gaylord to make alterations in his build~ng within the fire limits be not <br />gr,'_mted '~. Gaylord was permitted to address the Council at this ti~_~e. The re- <br /> <br />eo~.~.~endation of the CQ;~nittee w~_~s adopted. <br /> <br /> 'i~e Oo~.~unittee ~lso stated tt~at on account of the use of the front room or,the <br /> <br />Biddle Block for a po.Q1 room tt~e noise and disturbance created would make necessary <br /> <br />some ci~ange.s in the partition walls to deaden ti~e sound, and tt~e m,.atter was referred <br /> <br />to the Fine ~ Water Cormittee with power to act. <br /> <br /> TI~e Fire & Water Co;~ittee recormended the employment of W. K. Striker as <br />janitor in place of ?_~{r. Gragg, re.~igned. A motion was made, seconded end carried <br /> <br /> ~1 r~ <br />tl~at he be placed on the regular pay roll at v--~ per montI~. <br /> <br />Street Co~,.ittee by CI~airman }~{c}.{urp!~ey records, ended the granting of a petition <br /> <br />for paving Almaden St%'eet from Otb to tlth Avenues and stated that an Ordinance had <br /> <br />been prepared therefor. Also reco~.,~ended ti~at Monroe Street be paved from Gth to <br /> <br />13th Avenues, and that the petition for ~r~ding and maead~iziug l~th Avenue from <br />Alde~- Street to Agate Street be granted. Also reeo~mended that proceedings be <br /> <br />co~enced for the opening of VtmBuren Street from Gth Avenue north to tt~e alley be-- <br />tween -]th and 8th Avenues, and for ti~e opening of Polk Street from 8tt~ to !lth Avenues, <br />and also reported that tt~e t~alf burned building in tt~e rear of Bell's Grocery Store <br /> <br />is being re_moved and that the radius had been cut dov~n and pavement repairdd at the <br /> <br />corner of 5th and Wi]~_amette Streets. l{otion was made, seconded and carried to <br /> <br />adopt the repo'~'t of t~e St?eot Co'~:mittee. <br /> <br /> A report~ from_ti~e R~corder and City Attorney in tt~e matter of adjusting <br />theatre and picture sinew license, and determining a:'_,~ounts due from various shows up <br /> <br /> ;1 <br /> <br /> <br />
