'Councilman Striker also reported tl~at some <br />Chinese students occuPying the up-stairs of the Frasier Building at 6tl~ and <br /> <br />Willamette Streets had started to put in a brick flue and t~ad been stop, ed by Build- <br /> <br />i~g ~nspector Thomas.., <br /> <br />Hr. Striker presented m written reco.~0m~endati0n of the Fire <br /> <br />Water Co~;~.~ittee granting permission to make tile improvement. On motion, tt~e <br /> <br />reco~endat{ on was adopted. <br /> <br />Mr. Striker also stated that the fire department was in need of note fire hose. <br /> <br />Chairman !~cHurphey of ti~e Street Co-mittee stated that practically all of <br /> <br />the property m~xers o~ Alder Street were satisfied with ti~e bid of Clark & I{enery <br /> <br />Construction 0o., and moved tt~at the contract for paving Alder Street from llth <br /> <br />Awmue north to ti~e Millrace be ~varded to Clark & Itener~ Construction Co. in accord- <br />ande with their bid ~nich was the only bid received for said work and that the Mayor <br />and Recorder be auti~o~lzed to enter into a contract on behalf of the 0ity..
