Present Councilmen Hensill, Jolmson, Koppe, NcM~phey, Doff, Bell, Bean and Beytien. -- Petition to pave Alder Street with h~rd surface pavement a width of 30 feet from 13th to 16th Avenues and a width of 21~ feet from 16th Avenue south to City blmits; and a petition to straighten Nadison Street between l~th and 5th Avenues on the west .side of the. street; and a petition to g~ade and macadamize the all~ between 10th and llth Avenues from I~(o~oe Stree~ to Adams Street;~ and also the matter of establis}~i:~g a g~ade on South Willamette Street in the neighborhood of the Vitus property were referred to the Street Committee. Petition for street light at the intersection of Ninth Avenue and Jeff- erson Street w~s referred to the Fire & ~¥ater Committee. Duplicate agreements for overhead crossing of the City EleOtrie'Power · line with the Southern Pacific Co. were referred to the I~(ayor and City 'Recorder with instructions to sign if found correct. Comm~mieation of ~'. J. Berger relating to taxes o-n property t~ken for street purposes for the extension of Van Bu~,en Street from Eighth Avenue l~orth to Alley was referred to the City At~erney to determine question of liability for payment of taxes levied. Communication of I~ane County Humane Society relating to handling, of dogs by Mr. Cole referred to Police Cormuittee. Recommendation of Fire & Water Co~.~ittee that a street li~t be placed at the intersection of Fiftt~ Avenue and .Madison Street was on motion adopted. Finance Committee by Chairman Bean presented bills for Jack Re~raolds ~31.50 for stree~ work to be. paid .on the Road & Street )kmd, 0lc Soliem 25 per cent balance on Sewer between ~th and 5t.h Avenues from Polk to Filmore Streets ~155.50 on the Special Sewer l~kmd and Alta Woolf assisting Auditors in transfer- ring accounts $36.00 paid on the General ~>~nd. }~otion was ,made that said olalms be allowed and w~rrants dr~wn therefor. Motion seconded and the ayes and nays were called; Councilmen voting aye Hensill, Johnson, Koppe, }(eMurphey, Doff, Bell, Bean and Bey~ien, nay none. Motion was declared carried and so ordered. 01aim of Mrs. Idaho F. C~pbell for exemption from assessment for con- ~truction of sewer in the alley between 5th and 6th Avenues from Blair .Boulevard' to Polk Street on account, of having 'deeded her property to the City for street purposes was referred to the 0ity Attorney. .
