Presen~ Councilmen Johnson, NoI~urphey, Doff, Be~n and Beytien; absent Hensill, Eoppe and Bell. Communication and e~sement gr~nting to the City the right to open Van Buren Street across the Southern~Paeifio right-of-way referred to the City Attorney and Street Committee. A remonstrance against the paving of Alder Street from 13th Street to City Limits referred to the Street Co~uittee. Bill of W. S. !~oon for services as registration clerk $~85.00 p~esented, and ~ motion made and seconded to tallow the s~e. The ~yes 6nd nays were esl!- ed; Couneilz~en voting ,aye Johnson, ~cl~urphey, Doff, Bean and Beytien, nay none, was d~elared carried ~nd so ordered. absent Hensill, Koppe a~d Bell. l~otion Co~u~cilm~n t~o~urphe~ stated that the M~yor ~nd street ~o~uittee h~d held ~ meeting with mll the property owners on Hilyard street and that as a result of the discussion the property ~vners had asked the Co:mmittee to recom~end the i mw~rding of the contract, to Cl~rk & Henery Construction Co. for the pavement of ~ s~id street. Counoilm.~n ~cl~urphey moved that the Council now finds ~nd de- termines that the r~onstranee filed on said Street does not contain m ~.~Jority~ ~ of the Property or property owners on said street and that the sane be denied. t~otion seconded end carried. Nr. l~e~lurphey then moved that the Council now finds and deter~ines that the bid of ti~e Cl~rk & Henery Const~etion Co. for the paving of Hilyard Street fro~. 9th to llth Avenues ia the lowest and best bid s~id work ~nd that the Council now award the contract to said Company in accord- ance with it~ bid, and that the t~yor ~nd Recorder enter into a contract in be- half of the City, and that the ~_ayor be ~uthorlzed to receive and approve the bond, ~nd that all other bids be rejected and checks returned to unsuccessful bidders.
