Present Co~u~cilmen Johnson, Hempy, }~{cMurphey, Bogue, <br />Bell, Devereaux, Beytien and Goodpast%m'e. <br /> <br /> Petitions we'~e p~Fesented to the Council requesting the re-establist~.ent <br />of the Department .of Public Safety and for the appointment of a woman police <br />officer. The Cc~ncil was ~addressed ~on this subject by representatives of <br />womens organizations, and the petitions were referred to the Police Co~mittee <br />for consideration. <br /> <br /> Consider~tion of petitions and re~onstr~nces in regard to the paving <br />of Alder Street from ~t~irteenth Street to the City Limits, and ~ co~munication <br />on this subject from .~¥~r. Deierlein was had at this time, and various interested <br />property o~vners ad~lressed the Council. After full hearing the matter w~s re- <br />referred to tt~e Street Corz~.ittee. <br /> <br /> A petition't6 have Ferry Street paved from Eighth Avenue to the <br />Southern Pacific Railroad Track was read and referred with the renonstrance <br />heretofore filed to the Street Co~nittee for consideration. <br /> <br /> A petition for a sewer on Agate Street from the southeast corner from <br />Twenty-second and Agate Streets, north to the south side of 'l\,~enty-fourth Avenue <br />thence west to con~ect with the sewer in the alley between Agate & Emerald' <br />Streets WaSm referred, to the Sewer Co~ittee. <br /> <br /> Petition for ~ sidewalk on the east side of Monroe Street between First <br />and Second Avenues was referred to the Street Committee. <br /> <br /> A petition requesti~ the Co~uueil to give preference to the local <br />manufacturer of concrete sewer pipe in all of the contracts for construction of <br />sewers was presented aud read to ~the Council and remarks were heard from Hessr~. <br />Hall, Duryea and Paine, and the interested parties were assured the Council woul~ <br />be glad to co-operate in the assistance of any local enterpriee. <br /> <br /> An Ordinance providing for the construction of a sidewalk abutting the <br />hereinafter described property in the City of Pl~gene, and repe~ling Ordinance <br />No. 1~68 was read the third time and placed upon its passage. Councilmen vot- <br />ing ~ye Johnson, Hemp¥, McMurphey, Bogue, Bell, Devereaux, Beytien and Goodpast- <br />ute, n~y none. The Ordinance was declared passed and numbered ~1508. <br /> <br /> An Ordinance granting to A. C. Jennings the ri~t to construct and main~ <br />rain a railroad track over s, nd across Fourth Avenue West in ti~e City of <br />was read the third time and placed upon its passage.
