Council Chambers, Eugene, Oregon, December 27, 1915. <br /> <br />Council met pursuant to adjournment of December 13th, and was called <br /> <br />to order by Mayor Bell. <br /> <br />Present Councilmen Polders, Koppe, Peterson, Devereaux, <br /> <br />I.~osher, Goodpasture and Quimby; absent Parks. <br /> <br />Petition for street lights on Eighth Avenue and Tyler Street and <br /> <br />Eighth Avenue and Taylor Street was read and referred tp the Fire & Water <br />Committee. <br /> <br /> .An 0rdinanee levying assessments for the improvement of Alder Street <br />from Thirteenth Avenue south ~o the City Digits of the City of E~ene was read <br /> <br />the second time, and due notice having been given of the consideration of said <br /> <br />Ordinance at this time and the hearing of obJeetions thereto, objections were <br /> <br />called for, no written objections having been filed oral objections were. heard <br /> <br />from ~rs. Delia M. Cox, E]~.~er Roberts, Peter Nelson and E. 0. Potter, Attorney <br /> <br />for W. H. Brenton. ~otion wa.s made, seconded and carried that the proposed <br /> <br />Ordinance and objections thereto be referred to the Ci~y Attorney and Street <br /> <br />Committee for consideration an.d repor.t to the Council ~t a meeting to be held <br /> <br />Jmtuary 3, 1916, at 7:30 o'clock P. N. <br /> <br /> The Street Committee :recommended the granting of the petition to narrow <br /> <br />Twenty-third Avenue between Willamette Street and Olive Street, and on motion <br /> <br />the recommendation was adopted. <br /> <br /> An Ordinance vacating certain parts of Twenty-third Avenue between <br /> <br />i'~illamette Street and Olive Street in the City of hk~ene was read and passed its <br /> <br />second and third readings by title under suspension of the rule and w~s placed <br /> <br />upon its final passage. Councilmen voting aye y, nay none, absent Parks. <br /> <br />The Ordinance was declared passed and ntmbered #1822. <br /> <br />The Sewer Committee reported that they had entered into an a2~eement~ <br /> <br />subject to the approval of the Council, adjusting the assessments for the <br /> <br />Ordinance #1333 Fair~ount sewer on the basis of the payment by the property m~ners <br /> <br />of ~ ~/3 per cent of the amount assessed together with interest, thereon from <br /> <br />September 28, 1915, and a provision that the Sheridan case be dismissed and the <br />Jud~aent and decree be set aside and cancelled, and recommended that the Council <br />approve such settlement. ~otion was made, seconded and carried that tt~e <br /> <br />Council adopt the recommendation of the Committee. <br /> <br /> ~ Ordinance autt~orizing the settlement of the amounts levied under <br />assessment Ordinance No. 1620 for a lesser amount than in said Ordinance specified~ <br />was read and passed its second and third readings by title under suspension of <br />the rule and was placed upon its final passage.
