Council Chambers, Eugene, Oregon, January 10, 1916. <br /> <br />Council met in regular monthly session, and was called to order by <br />Mayor Bell. Present Councilmen Parks, Polders, Peterson, Devereaux, Mosher, <br /> <br />Ooodpasture and Quimby; absent Koppe. <br /> <br /> Petition of A.C. Rathmell to make alterations on the Bomuett Building <br />at 7th and Charnelton Streets was referred to the Fire & Water Committee with <br />power to act. <br /> <br /> Report of the Inspector of Buildings for the month of December was <br />read and filed. <br /> <br />Report of Niss Bertha Dorris of the Department oF Public Safety was <br /> <br />read and referred to the Police Committee. <br /> <br />Quarterly report o~ Fred Stickels, Treasurer, was read and referred to <br /> <br />the Finance Co~aittee. <br /> <br /> A Resolution directing the City Recorder to notify the Eugene Water <br /> <br />Board to proceed with the construction of the lighting system on Ninth Avenue <br /> <br />from Olive Street to Pearl Street was read, and a motion was made, seconded and <br /> <br />carried to adopt the same. <br /> <br />The Recorder called attention to the petition of F. L. Chambers for the <br /> <br />vacation of certain streets and alleys in Drlverton Addition, consideration of <br /> <br />which is to be held on February l~,'lgl6,'and the petition was referred to the <br /> <br />Street Co~,ittee for preliminary investigation. <br /> <br /> Petitions filed by the Unemployment League for submission at the April <br /> <br />Election of certain proposed Charter amendments were referred to the Judiciary <br />Committee and Attorney. <br /> <br /> An Ordinance regulatingthe use, conduct and operation of vehicles upon <br />the streets of the City of Eugene and to pre'scribe penalties for the violation <br />thereof was read and'passed its second and bhird readingsby title'under suspen- <br /> <br />sion of the rule and was placed upon its final passage. Councilmen voting <br /> <br />aye 7, nay none, absent Koppe. The Ordinance was declared passed'and numbered <br /> <br />#1828. <br /> <br /> An Ordinance to repeal Ordinances No. 1105, 1199, 12~9, 1278, 1293, 1326, <br />136W, 1535 and 1686 of the 01ty of Eugene was read and passed its second and <br />third readings by title under suspension of the rule and was placed upon its <br /> <br />final passage.
