JANUARY <br /> <br />Council Chambers, Eugene, Oregon, January 8, 1917. <br /> <br />Council met in regular monthly session, and, in the absence of ~ayor <br /> <br />Bell, was called to order by Councilman Goodpasture, President of the Council. <br /> <br />Present Councilmen Parks, Pe~erson, Koppe, Nosher, 'Devereaux and Quimby; <br /> <br />absent Polders, <br /> <br /> The minutes of Council meeting of December llth were read and approved. <br /> <br /> Report of th8 Building Inspector for the month of December was read <br />and filed. <br /> <br />Quarterly report of the City Treastu-er for the quarter ending December <br /> <br />31st was read and placed on file. <br /> <br /> Claim of H. R. Price for the s~n of $75.00 damages because of injury <br /> <br />to Edith Price on aecozmt of alleged defective sidewalk wa:~ referred to the <br />Judiciary C o~_~ittee. <br /> <br /> Claim of A. ~[..~eck on behalf of Gamma Alp~Building Association for <br /> <br />alleged over assessment on Alder Street was referred to tt~e Judiciary Conunittee <br /> <br />and City Attorney. <br /> <br /> Attention was called to the :~it filed by Mr. Haner against the City <br /> <br />on account of assessment of Alder Street from lltt~ Avenue to the I'.~illrace, <br /> <br />and the case was referred to the City Attorney with instructions to protect <br /> <br />the City's interest. <br /> <br /> A petition asking the re-instatement of G.W. Beaman as a laborer in <br />the Street Dept. was read, and Attorney Swafford addressed the COuncil in be- <br />half of Nr.
