Council Chambers, Eugene, Oregon, February 13, 1917. <br /> <br /> Council met in regular monthly session, and was called to order by <br />Mayor Bell. Present Councilmen Polders, Parks, Peterson, Eoppe, Mosher, <br />Devereaux, Quimby and Goodpasture. <br /> <br /> Minutes oF Council proceedings under dates of January 8th and 22nd <br /> <br />were read and approved. <br /> <br /> Petition of the B. & ~. Tire an~! Vulcanizing Co. for permission to <br />construct an approach to building at 8~6 Olive Street was referred to the <br />Street Committee with power to act. <br /> <br /> Request of Mrs. Adds Riemenaehnieder for $60.00 as damages for an <br />alleged personal injury on account of a fall on the sidewalk at T~nth and <br />Willamette Streets was referred to the Judiciary Committee and City Attorney <br />for investigation. <br /> <br /> Request of the Western Union Telegraph Co. for the privilege of ex- <br />tending their wires over certain streets and alleys to new location as a tem- <br />porary arrangement was referr,ed to the Street Committee with power to act. <br /> <br /> Report of the Building Inspector for the month of January was read and <br />placed on file. <br /> <br /> The Judiciary Committ~ee recommended that the petition from the Secre- <br />tary of the Buceel Entertainm~ent Course to be relieved from the p~yment of <br />0ity license be denied. Recommendation was on motion adopted. <br /> <br /> Said Committee also r~ecommended that the petition for the closing of <br />East Seventh Street from Pearl to High Streets during school recesses be <br />denied. Recommendation was on motion adopted. <br /> <br /> The Fire & Water Committee recommended that the petition for a stree~ <br />light at the intersection of 19th and Potter Streets be &,ranted. On motion the <br />recommendation was adopted. <br /> <br /> An Ordinance ~anting to the Postal Tele~rrapg Co. the right to con- <br />struct and maintain its telegraph lines along certain streets in Eugene, <br />Oregon, was read, and a motion was made, seconded and c~rried instructing <br />the Recorder to ~dvertise, in accordance with the Charter, the proposed <br />franehise~dtime for hearing the same. <br /> <br /> The-following bills were recommended by the Finance Committee for <br /> <br />payment: <br /> <br /> <br />
