Present Councilmen Polders, Parks, Koppe, Spencer, DevereauX, <br />Mosher and Goodpa'sture; and Spangler. <br /> <br />The minutes of proceedings of Council under dates of September 10th <br /> <br />and 2l~th were read and approved. <br /> <br /> Report of the Building Inspector for the month of September was read <br />and ~laeed on file. <br /> <br /> Quarterly report of City Treasurer Stickels was referred to the <br /> <br />Finance Committee. <br /> <br /> ~equest of M. ~. Griggs for ~ancellation of balance of assessment <br />against the Griggs Hotel property on account of installation of ornamental <br />street lighting system on Willamette Street was referred to the Finance <br /> <br />Committee. · <br /> <br /> The following reco~mmendations were made by the Street Co~nittee: <br /> <br />1. That the petition for a bridge adross the millrace on Eighth <br /> <br />Avenue East be denied, as the Com~ittee ~egard the present bridge in safe <br /> <br />condition for traffic. <br /> <br />2. That the petition for the g~ading and gravelling of Second <br />Avenue from Blair Houlevard west to City Limits be denied on the g~ounds <br /> <br />that the proposed improvement is in an extremely outlying district and only <br />about 21 per cent of th~ property ova~ers have asked for same. <br /> <br />3. That the petition f'oP a sidewalk on the north side of 16th <br /> <br />Avenue East from Willamette Street to Pearl Street be denied because the <br /> <br />walk is not necessary and that the people are reasonably served in this <br />locality by other sidewalks. <br /> <br />That 36 signs for warning signs at railroad crossings be pm'chased <br /> <br />from the Coast Culvert & Flume Co. at a cost of $2.25 each, and that the <br /> <br />Mayor and City Attorney prepare an application to the Public Service Commission <br /> <br />asking that the City be relieved from erecting signs at crossings other than <br />those enumenated in their report and to be taken care of by the 36 signs <br /> <br />ordered. <br /> <br />Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried all of the above recommendations <br /> <br />of the Street Committee were adopted. <br /> <br />The Ordinance for the improvement of Potter Street and 28th Avenue <br /> <br />coming on for consideration, the question of possibility of taking care of <br /> <br /> <br />
