Council Chambers, Eugene, Oregon, January 1W~ 1918. <br /> <br /> Couno'll met in regular monthly session, and was called to order by <br /> <br />E. B. Parks, President of the Council, in the .absence of }~ayor Peterson. <br />Present Councilmen Koppe, Spencer, Devereaux, Goodpastttre and Spangler; t~,bsent <br />Polders and ~osher. <br /> <br /> The minutes of Council proceedings under date of December 10, 1917, <br />were i-ead and approved. . <br /> <br /> ~. S. N. Calkins appeared before the Council and. requested permission <br />to repai~ the ~oof of the old shop south of the V~arnoek Feed Ba~n between <br /> <br />Pearl and Park Streets. The matter was referred to .the Fire & Water Co~.~ittee <br />to investigate and report. <br /> <br /> Petition fo~ a street light at or nea~ 23~d Street on South Willa?.ette <br />Street was read and referred ,to the Fire & Water Co~ittee. <br /> <br /> Repobt of the Building Inspector for the' month of December was <br /> <br />read and filed. <br /> <br /> Qua~te~lY.~epo~t of the ~ity Treasurer for the quarter ending <br />December 31st was presented and referred to the Finance Co~ittee. <br /> <br /> Fo~ Co~ieations from the City Treas~er r.elating to the following <br /> matters were read~m <br /> <br /> A statement of assessments due the City more than ten years old. <br /> <br /> A ll~t of assessments against property probab, ly within the limit~ of <br /> <br /> some street with a reeo~endation that if fo~d to be within the public <br /> streets that th~ assessments be cancelled. <br /> <br /> A statement of duplication of sewer assesm~.ents in connection with <br /> <br /> the construction of sewers on 12th Street, and requesting on behalf of the <br /> property owners the discharge of the second lien ~s an unjust assessment. <br /> <br /> A statement of the condition of indebtedness iu connection with the <br /> impr0vement~ of Fai~motmt sewer under Ordinance No. 1333, sugge~i~ the <br /> t~ansfer of this indebtedness to the 'Improvement Bond Interest and Si~i~ <br /> Funds, or the sale of Bancrofb Bonds for the purpose of ~elieving the <br /> holders of war~ants for this improvement. <br /> The above communications were ~eferred to the Finance Committee, City <br /> Attorney and 'City Engineer to investigate a~d report to the Council. <br /> <br /> An Ordinance levying assessments fo~ the improvement of ~entieth <br /> Avenue V~est from Willamette street to Olive Street was read and laid over. <br /> <br /> <br />
