FEBRUARY 25, %918. · . :: - <br /> <br /> Council Chambers, Dlgene, Oregon, Rebrua~y 25, 1918. <br /> <br /> Council met pursuant to adjournment of February llth, anti was called to <br />order by Nayor Peterson. Present Councilmen Parks, Polders, Koppe, Spencer, <br />Devereaux, Nosher, Goodpasture and Spangler. <br /> <br /> Representatives of different civic organizations appeared before the <br />Council to request the Council to vest the control of shade trees and shrubbery <br />in the streets and parkings in the Park Board, and remakrs were made by Prof. <br />DeCou, who presented a petition and 0rdlnanee for this purpose; also remarks <br />we~-e made by C. N. Stevens and S. D. Allen, after which the matter was re- <br /> <br />ferred to the City Attorney and Judiciary Conu~ittee. <br /> <br />Dean Hayes, representing the Friendly estate, requested permission to <br />make repairs to the building ~t 10th and Willamette Streets, which was damaged <br /> <br />by fire.. Councilm~n Nosher staSed that he had gone over the premises, a~t <br />would reeo~e~ that the privilege of making the necessary repairs to this <br /> <br />building be g~anted under the supervision of the Inspector of Buildings. <br /> <br />Notion was-made, seconded and carried to adopt the recomm~endatlon. <br /> <br /> The Finance Committee reeom3nended the payment to the Water Board as <br />follows: Water rental from April 1917 to January 1918, $5,538.93, light <br />and power for the same period, $10,115.92, w~ter rent for the month of <br />January, $5'?~.96, ligj~t and power for. the month of January, $1,139.70, to be <br /> <br />paid out of the Public Water ~nd and Public Dighting & Power ~nd respectively; <br /> <br />also that the depot park and fountain lights be tm-ned off at midnight; <br /> <br />also that the matter of re&~lation oF water consumed in flush tanks be <br />turned over to the City Engineer. No'ion was made and seconded that the <br />recommendation be adopted. The ayes and nays were called; Councilmen voting <br /> <br />aye 8, nay none. Notion was declared carried and so ordered. <br /> <br />The Street Committee recon~aended that the salaries of all street <br /> <br />employees on the pay roll of the City at this time, oxysept the Street <br /> <br />Co~issioner and Assistant, be increased $5.00 per month each, commencing with <br /> <br />the month of Narct~. Notion was made and seconded that the reco~aendation <br />be adopted, and the ayes and nays were called. Councilmen voting aye 8, nay <br />none. Notion was declared carried anti so ordered. <br /> <br /> Councilman Parks moved that the salary of Chas. Boqua be raised to <br />$75.00 per month, co~aencing Narch 1st. Notion was seoonded and the ayes <br />and nays were called; Councilmen voting aye 8, nay none. Notion was declared <br />carried and so ordered. <br /> <br /> <br />
