MARCH ~ 11 ,. ~_1918 <br /> <br /> Council Chambers, Eklgene, Oregon, ~.farch 11, 1918. <br /> <br /> Council met in regular monthly session, and was called to order by <br />Mayor Peterson. Present Councilmen Polders, Spencer, Devereaux, Mosher, <br />Goodpasture and Spangler; absent Parks and Koppe. <br /> <br /> Minutes of Council proceedings under dates of February llth~ and <br />25th were read and approved. <br /> <br /> Councilman Mosher reported for the Fire & Water Com~ittee that the <br />Com~nittee had inspected the rifle target range installed at the University <br />by Col. Leader, and that all proper precaution had been taken to safe guard <br />the public, and that the Committee sanctioned the arrangement, Motion was <br />made, seconded and carried to ~pprove the action of the Committee. <br /> <br /> Councilman Spencer for the Judiciary Committee reported that an <br />Ordinance had been prepared relating to the control of trees and shrubbery <br />along the streets and parkways, which was s~tisfactory to the Committee, and <br />that the Ordinance would be proposed later at this meetillg. <br /> <br /> The report of the Building Inspector for the month of February was <br />read and filed. <br /> <br /> Contmunication from S. G. Thompson asking for relief from the parking <br />of automobiles on Oak Street in front of the side entrance to his Hardware <br />Store was read and referred to the Street Committee and City Attorney. <br /> <br /> An Ordinance to regulate the setting out of ornamental shade trees, <br /> hedges and shrubbery in the streets and parkways of the City of Eugene; to <br /> regulate the pruning and care of the same; to provide for the removal of <br /> trees and shrubbery from the streets and parkways in the City, and placing <br /> the planting, care and removal of trees and shrubbery under the jurisdiction <br /> of the Park CommisSion of the City of Eugene; and defining the powers and <br /> duties of the said Park Commission in respect thereto; p~oviding per~lties <br /> for the, violation of this Ordinance and repealing all ordinances or parts of <br /> ordinances in conflict herewith was read and passed its second and third <br /> readings by title under suspension of the rule and was placed upon its final <br /> passage. Councilmen voting aye 6, nay none, absent Parks and Koppe. <br /> The Ordinance was declared passed and numbered #1920. <br /> <br /> The following bills were recommended for payment by the Finance <br /> <br />0ommittee: <br /> <br /> <br />
