lo, 1915. ............. <br /> <br /> Council Chambers, Bhlgene, Oregon, }~ay 10, 1915. <br /> <br /> Council met in regular monthly session, and was called to order by <br />Mayor Bell. Present Councilmen Parks, Polders, Bogue, Peterson, Devereaux, <br />Nosher, Goodpastu~e and Q~lmby. <br /> <br /> The minutes of Council proceedings under dates of April 12th and <br /> <br />26th were read and approved. <br /> <br /> The Police Committee recommended th~ pure]rose of a new motorcycle for <br /> <br />the Police Department, the old machine to be turned in at a valuation of $100 <br />and the new machine to have one year's guaranty. Motion was made, seconded <br />and carried ~o adopt the recommendation mnd to authorize the Police Committee <br /> <br />to make the ptu-ctu~se. <br /> <br /> The replacing of some old fire hydrants with nmv ones and changing <br />location of new ones, and matter of installing gmsoline tank in alley by the <br />Imperial Hatters on East' Seventh Street were on ~motion referre~ to' the ~ire <br /> <br />Water Committee with pewer to act. <br /> <br />The Fire & Water Committee filed written reports recommending the ptu,- <br /> <br />chase of additional fire truck at an approximate cost of $1500, recommending the <br /> <br />ptu'chase of gate valves, elbows, nozzles and reducers, and recommending the <br /> <br />g~anting of petition fo~ installing a street light at Fotu-tt~ Avenue and !~onroe <br /> <br />Street intersection and at Twentiettx Avenue and ~incoln Street Intersection. <br /> <br />Motion was made, seconded and carried to adopt the reports. <br /> <br />A Resolution dee_la~ing vacant the position of H. D. Briggs as I~ire Chief <br /> <br />was on motion adopted. The Mayor appointed William Nusbaum as Chief of the <br /> <br />Fire Department and Orlo }{endershott as a member of the Department and Assistant <br /> <br />Ohief. Motion was m~e, seconded, and carried to confirm the appointments. <br /> <br /> The ~ommittee on Streets recommended that the Council enter into an <br />ag~,eement with the P. E. & E. Ry. ~o. permitting the Company to repair the <br />pavement on Blair Boulevard with three inch planking, providing for the removal <br /> <br />of same in eighteen months and replace the same with Belguim Blocks. On motion <br /> <br />the ~ecom~endation was adopted. <br /> <br /> The Committee on Streets recommended the rejection of the petition <br /> <br />for concrete pavement on Alder Street from Ninth Avenue to tt~e Millrace. <br /> <br />The reeo~mmendation was on motion adopted. <br /> <br />~he ~o~mlttee on Streets recommended that W. B. Farmer be placed on <br /> <br />the regular pay roll at $60 per month, and the Mayor and Recorder instructed~to <br /> <br /> <br />
