Present Councilmen Parks, Spencer, Mosher, Goodpasture and Spangler; absent Polders and Devereaux. Coun~.ilman elect, ~. B. Willoughby, took his oath of office, and was seated in the Council as a Councilman for the Second Ward. ~e minutes of Council proceedings under dates of April 8th and 22{1d were read and approved. The Street Conu~ittee repo',ted that they had sold an old City sprinkler to Hall & Soleim for $150.00, of which $50.00 has been paid in, and the balance of $100.00 to be paid on the 10th to 15th of June. Motion was aade, seconded and carried to ratify the action of the Con%mittee. At this time Councilman Polders appeared in Council. The following Resolution was read: "BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COI~ON COUNCIL OM THE CI'i"f OF EUGENE that from and after May 1, lglS, the salary of the Chief of Police be and the same is hereby fixed at the sum of One Hundred Dollars per month, and the salary of %he policemen in the city be and the same is hereby fixed in tile sum of Eighty-five Dollars per month, each, and the salary of the Advisory Matron
