AU6US~ 9 ~_1915. <br /> <br /> 'Council Chambers, Eugene, Oregon, August 9, 1915. <br /> <br /> Ummcil met in regular monthly session, and was called to order by <br />Councilman Devereaux, President of the Council, acting as ~{ayor in the absence <br />of ~{ayor Bell. Present Councilmen Parks, Polders, Koppe, Peterson, Nosher, <br />Goodpast~u~e and Quimby. <br /> <br /> Request of W. 'Al. Jones to stretch banners across a street to advertise <br />the Oregon State Fair was referred to the F'ire & Water Committee and Building <br />Inspector with power to act. <br /> <br /> Report of W. 1{. Alexander, Building Inspector, for the month of July' <br /> <br />was read and placed on file. <br /> <br /> The semi-annual report .of tt~e Water Board for the period ending June <br /> <br />15, 1915, was presented and ordered filed, and the attention of the Council <br />directed to it. <br /> <br /> The Fire & Water Co]remit'tee reco~.~nended the granting of the petition for <br /> <br />a street light at First and La~wrenee Street intersection, ~nd the denial of the <br />petition for a street light at the' corner of Seventeenth and Patterson Streets, <br />and on motion said reports were adopted. <br /> <br /> The Street Committee recommended that A. J. Bonar be placed on reEular <br />pay roll at ~60 per month beginning August l, 1915, and also that ~. C. Beebe and <br />Gus Reams' salaries be raised from ~5 a month to $60 a month, commencing A~3~ust <br />l, 191~ I~(otion was made and seconded that the recommendation be adopted. <br />The ayes and nays were ca!led; Councilmen voting aye Parks, Polders, Xoppe, <br /> <br />Peterson, ~.(osi%er, Goodpasture and Quimby, nay none. <br />carried and so ordered. <br /> <br /> An Ordinance permitting SOUTHERN PACIPIO COMPANY <br /> <br />Eotion was declared <br /> <br />to repair the pavement <br /> <br />on Blair Boulevard in the City of Eugene, adjacent to the rails of the railroad' <br />track of said Southern Pacific Company and directing the manner thereof was <br />read and passed its second and third readings by title under suspension of <br />the rule and was placed upon its final passage. Councilmen voting aye 7, <br />nay none. The 0rdlnanee was declared passed and numbered #1782. <br /> <br /> An Ordinance granting to OREGON AND CADIF0.~NIA RAILROAD C0~P~f, its <br />lessees, successors and assigns, the right, privilege and franchise to establish, <br />lay do~, construct, maintain and operate a singable standard gauge railway spur <br />track over and across a certain portion of Pearl Street, in the City of Eugene, <br />Oregon, subject to certain conditions and restrictions hereinafter set forth <br />was read and passed its second am! third readings by title under suspension <br /> <br /> <br />
