Co,moil Chambers, B~gene, Oregon. <br /> November 12th, 1923. <br /> <br />Monday November 12th, 1923 being the date of the regular monthly <br /> <br />meeting of the council amd it,also being a legal hol, iday~Armistioe Day and less <br /> f. <br />than a qurum being present, ,Cour~Cil adjourned to t~'e following night, ~Aesday <br /> <br />City Recorder. <br /> <br />November 13th, .1923 at 7:30 08clock P.M. <br /> <br /> Council Chambers, EUgene, 0fegon. <br /> <br />November, 13th, 1923. <br />Council met pursuant to adjournment, present Mayor E. B. Perks, and <br /> <br />C,~uncilmen, McAllster, Mosher, Walker, Simmons, Wallace, Willtameon and Washburneo <br />Absent Monroe. <br /> <br /> Th.e.minute~ ~f Council meeting of Oct. 8th, Oct. ~2nd, ~r.d O~t. 24th, <br /> <br />Were read and approve.cl. <br /> <br /> Dr. Wm K, uykendai! of the ~gene Hospital appeared before the Council <br />with a plan to pave, drain and improve the ground belonging to the tfosp[ital ad,. <br />Jacent to the City Hall .and asking ,the city to do certain work in connection, there <br /> <br />with. The matter was referred to the Street Com,,_l~tee and the city ..Engineer. <br /> <br />J. W. Barringer appeared before ,the council to inquire if the city <br /> <br />would assist tn cleaning the channel of the "Amazon" to prevent further over:~flow. <br />He was informed the city can do nothing in the matter until the .survey now pond- <br /> <br />lng, with Engineer Thomson in charge, is determined. <br /> <br /> The Police Committee reported on the question of providing ~lequate <br />quarters for the women p~isoners an~ recommended the cloak room between the hall <br />and the p61ice office in the City Hall be fitted for that purpose. The matter was <br /> <br />ireferred further to the Police Co~,_!ttee to' ascertain the cost and out-lay neoessar <br />.to ProPerly equip such room for the purpose wanted.~ <br /> <br /> The I,~lre and Water Committee reported favorably on the petition of <br />residents f~r e street light, at the corner of Eighth Ave.. W. ~d Tyler St. ~d <br /> <br />tne S~e w~ order~ installS. Upon motion it was alsO~d'~red that a street <br />,~lght be installed at the northeast corner ef Second Ave. E. ~d Pearl Street. <br />Street Commissioner F~rmer ap.peered ~d asked the counclF to have <br /> <br />purchased for bls Department four tools as' lndie~ted by circular produced and. the <br />.¢1t¥ e .rdor-waa instructed to make ~uoh p~lrohase. <br /> <br /> The ~lre amd Water Committee reported a speolal permit has been <br />iued tO' ~ve ~d Barrett to repair the!~ °~d warehouse roof.
