Upon motion the report was adopted and the l~(ayor and Recorder were directed to ente~ into contract for constr~tlon of s~id Sewer an([ that the cePtifled~~ checks of the unsuccessful bidde~ be returned as soon as con- tract w~s entered into. Upon motion the City Recorder was instructed ~o mlverti.se for bids for recon- struction of the sewer between kth and 5th Avenue We,st from Olive to Jefferson Streets. ~,~. W.F.CallaWay appeared before, the Cmmeil and stated that i~e was erecting a dwelling on tho North ;~tde of 12th Avenue '~est between Jefferson and ~fadison Streets and that there was a private g~rage at the sidewalk which obstructed his · view and r~,quested the Council to require that said garage be moved back from the sidewalk. ~he matter was referred to ,~he Judiciary Cmo~nittee and 0ity Attorney with power to aot.~ 'lhe Street Com~ittee recoms~ended that a wooden bridge be erected across the ~4ill Race on Htlyard Street. Upon motion the reoom]~,endation was adopted and it was so ordered. A petition signed by R.W. '~nompson and others w~s presented asking that the alley between 01iv~ and Charnelton Street extending North from 5th Street to S.P. rigj%t-.of-way be vaOated. Upon motion the petition was denied. A petition was presented asking for a street light on the corner of .17th and Patterston Street, Upon motion the .light was authorized to be installed.
