TIlE CI fY ON EUGkNE DO E~ ORDAIN AS 20LIDWS: <br /> <br /> BE IT ~NACTED oY THE FLE~TORS O~ THE CIYY OF R~SG&WE OREGON. <br /> <br /> _ 8eotlon 1. .T~at the Common Council of the City of Eugene is her~y authorized <br />and empo ~ered to ,i~sue and sell negotiable bonds of the city to the amount of ten <br />Thousand (10,000) Qollars or so much thereof a~ may be necessary for the purpose <br />of constructing a r~ew concrete CityJail; <br /> <br /> Section 2. The bonds hereby, authorized shall be denominted "City Jail Construc- <br /> <br />.tlon Bonds." They 'shall be a general obligation of the City of ~gene, and shbll <br />be in such form and of such denominations as will, in the Judgment of the Common <br />Council, be most likely to conduce to their salability,. They shall be made due <br /> <br />and payable In 20y~ars from the date of their issuance, and bear interest at the <br /> <br />rate of not ~J~ exceed 5 per cent per annum payable semi-annually. <br /> <br /> Section 3. The Common Council of the City of Eugene is hereby m~thorized to <br />include in its gen~ral muni;lpal tax levy each year m~fflolent special levy to <br />pay the interest 05 the bonds and provide a sinking fund for the pa~ent <br />when~ due. <br /> <br /> Seeblon. 4. The Co~on Council of the city is hereby authoPiz~ to issue ~d <br />sell the said bonds, from time to time, as they m~ ~e ~eeded fOP the put,se <br />hereim specified, but before ~y of them shall be sold, ~hey shall be ~vertlsed <br />fo~ ~ale, by publication of a notlee ~king for bl,~s therefor t~' be published in <br />~e two daily pa~rs now published la ~gene, Oregon~ In'at' least one l~sua of 'such <br />daily paper~, ~wo Week~ prior to the t~e of the sal.e; and [hey may also.give n~lce <br />of the sale of said ~mds lm such other pa~rs as they de~ [o be bes~ for the <br />lmteres$ of the city in effeoting ~ sale; but,-if no satisfae~ory bids for the <br /> <br />purchase of the bonds be re~eived, tI~ey may ~ell them at private sale at not less <br />than a~par and accrued interest. <br /> <br /> 8eotlon 5. That the money derived from the sale of said bonds shall constl'tu~e <br />a special fund denominated "The City Jml~ Co~§truotlon ~und.% ~d shall be used <br /> <br />~or no other purpose than herein provided. <br /> <br /> Section 6. That ~eotion 37 of chapter 7, of ~he charter of 5he City of Eugene, <br />Oregon, llmltlng the indebtedness of the city ~o Three Thousand (3,000) Dollars <br /> <br />hereby repealed. <br /> <br /> The following resolution was read and on motion unanimously adopted: <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Eugene, Oregon, that there <br /> <br />be submitted to the electors of the city for their approval or rejection, at a <br /> <br />speolal election $o be held In the city on the 2nd, day of July, 1924, the annexed. <br /> <br /> <br />
