<br />chase price, and reco~ended that such machine be purchased out of ~he ~gineer's

<br /> Bids were opened for the improv~ent~ of ~Heights Blvd. and' the following .bids wer~
<br />submitted for the improvement of such street as per plus and specifications.

<br />There being ne protests, the Matter was referre~l to the Street. Committee for an im-
<br />molate report, end said Committee reported favorably on the bid of Stien Bros-. at
<br />$6616~ ~d the Mayor ~d City Recorder instructed to enter into a contract with suck
<br />bidders for said iMproveMent. '~

<br /> The Street Co~ittee having reported favorably on the petition for th~ paving of
<br />South Will~ette Street, the Southern P~lflc R~llway Comply, through Superlntend~t
<br />Billingsby, ~peared ~d askel that the Southern Pacific Railway ComPany be permitt-
<br />ed to pave its portion of said Street wltt~ penetration ~phast, T~,th!s, a remon-
<br />str~ce petition was filed by a majority of the ,property owners abutting such street.
<br />~ter much discussion, the remonstrate petitio$ of such residents was denied and
<br />the petition of the Railway Comply grated ,~ condition that such Railway Company
<br />at all times keep its paving in good condition ~nd repair, and if it fails ~ to do,
<br />the City may require it to take up and replace Such payment with ma,~erlal sucg' as
<br />the rest of such street is constructed of, as covered by such 0rdln~ce, ~d l~ any
<br />event, to rePlace such portion of the street with pavement of the s~e type' ~d
<br />character as the remainder of the street, ~d not later th~ five years from the

<br /> A protest was received by pr0Pe~ty owners abutting on t, N0rth Lawrence Street
<br />against paving said street, as asked for in the petitior[-h~re-to-fore filed. Such
<br />matter was referred_ to the Street Committee, as was .also .the former petition for
<br />p ay lng.
<br /> A Petition was received from ~re~idents of South Olive Street asking that such
<br />Street~ be p,~ved from a point ~20 feet North of Twenty~ First Str,eet, South to Twenty
<br />Fourth Avenue ~ud to a width of 24 feet. The matter was referred to the Street
<br />Committee a~d it recommedded the gran. ting., of sueh, petitio~, t~e, wo,rk to. ~e let in
<br />one contract for this and for the work ~mder th$ prior petitl.,~m.~granted for th~ pave-
<br />,ment of Olive street from Seve~teent'h Avenue South, but. such ~a~gme~ to-be of the
<br />width of 26.feet instead of 24 feet from Twenty First Avenue sod~o~motion such

<br />lstrUctlon of a sewer in the alley between Lawrence end Washington Streets from Four-
<br />Iteenth to Fifteenth .Avenues, S~ld matter was referred to the Sewer Committee, and
<br />flit recom~!~..,ended that' such petitio~ be gra~ted. On motion such report was adopted.
