Parks <br />Minutes of 'the meetings of the Conner1 h01d on June 9th, June 11th, and June 23rd <br />1924, fe~ and'approved. <br /> <br /> Mrs. P.L. Stetson appeared and ~k~'t~at the Council.expend not to except <br /> <br />$187.40 to assist the play-ground association in conducting the ph~y-gro~md in the <br /> <br />city un'ti1 about August 1, 1924, and further asked the council to take steps to <br /> <br />secure a'permanent plaY'grouut site for the city. On motion it was voted to ex- <br /> <br />pend not to exceed the amount asked for ,3ontlnul. ng this work for the summer. (The <br />amount ,finally agreed on was $82.80 and a warrants drama to Mrs. Stetson for <br /> <br />' that amount.) <br /> <br /> Judge L.T. Harris,' as attorney for C. 0. Peterson, and C.A. Hardy as attorney <br />for J.~. Ne~y and~ Wm. ]ulver, appeared before the Council and filed with the City <br /> <br />Recorder deeds'for the property in the changing of Nigh Street as heretofore order- <br />ed, said deeds to be held until the vacatlon of parts of High Street and ~irst <br />Avm~u~ is completed, and asked that .the vacating of said streets be hurried. <br /> <br /> Attorney Fred Smith also appeared as' to the paving on South Willamette St., <br />asking that .the West side onl~ ~f said street be paved at this time if the whole <br /> <br />pave:~ent can't be finished before the rainy season comes. No action was taken. <br /> <br /> On mo$ion the Street Committee was instructed an,! given authorit~ to us~ tts <br /> <br />best efforts to hhrry the S.P.~.~. Co. to 40 it~ Share of the paving or~ South <br /> <br />W.lllemette Street:so the whole work can bo completed at one tim~. Those voting <br /> <br />aye, 'McAlister, HS~her, Walker, and Washburne, Nay, SDmuons, WalLace, Willismson <br />and Monroe~ ~heN.~yor cast the deoldlng vote, voting aye, <br /> <br /> Wm. Kereher appeared and inquired why the sewer between 8th and 9th Ave. W. <br /> <br />Van Buren We~t has not been constructed, <br /> <br /> The ,Yudlolar¥ committee reported in writing on the petttton of LcLean and <br />Oam~beL~ a~klflg for theopening of the alley through Block 9, of the Original <br />T0vmslte, reedmmefldlng the city tak~' no aotl~n la the matter. Such report was <br />adopted. ' <br /> <br /> A petition wa~ received asking that Lmvrence St. from ~th to llth Avenue. be <br /> <br />paved. This was referred~o the Street Conn~ittee. The Street ~ommittee report- <br />ed favorably on thls~etition and al~o reported favorably on thepetltion to pave <br />Lawrence Street from 4th Avenue North to the North' end of Lawrence otreet. ,On <br /> <br />motion suoh rep6~% was adopted. <br /> <br /> <br />
