,C I{ A P T E ~ AM EN DM EN T. <br /> <br />AN ACT to amHhd the ChaRter of the City of EUgene, Oregon,, by adding a new <br /> <br />chapter thereto authori~ing and empowering the Co,tureen Council of the city to <br /> <br />is.~ue and ]e.~l negotiable bonds of the ct. ty to the amount of Thirty-Pive Thousand <br />Dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary for the purpose of paving street <br />intersections of the city. <br /> <br /> THE CITY O~ EU ;HNE DOE~ O~DAIN AS <br /> <br /> BE IT ~ACTE~ BY THE kw~kl]TO~S 0~ THE CITY O~ kNIGIfl~E O~;ON. <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Cmmnon Council of the City of g~gnen ts hereby author~ <br /> <br />izod and empow~?red to issue and sell negQtlable bonds of the city to the amount <br />of Thir..y-five Thousand Dollars or so much thereof as may be necessary for the <br /> <br />purpose of paving street intersections of the city: <br /> the <br /> Section 2. That/bonds hereby authorized shall be denominated "Paving Inter- <br /> <br />section Bonds." They shall be a general obligation of the City of Eugene, and <br />shall be in such form and of such denominations as will t~ the ,Judgment of the <br /> <br />Common Council be most likely to conduce to their salability. They shall be made <br /> <br />due and payable in 20 years from the date of t'he~lr 1ssuanSe, end bear interest'at <br /> <br />a rate not to exceed 5'per cent pit annFm, payable semi-anua~ly. <br /> <br />Section 3. That the Con, non Council of the City of Eugene is hereby author- <br /> <br />izod bt include in its 'general ~u'nic-{'apl tax levy 'eaOh yea~ a sufficient special <br /> <br />levy to. pay-the-interest on-the'b~nds-andprOvlde a sinking fund-for_the, payment _ <br /> <br />of then~ when due. <br /> <br /> Section 4. That the'~Con~non Council of the city is hereby authorized to Issue <br />and sell- the said-bonds~ from[ time to time, as-they may beneeded-for-the-purpose- <br /> <br />herein specified, ~ut before any of them shall be sold, they shall be advertised <br />for sale, by publication of a notice asking for bids therefor to be published in <br />the two daily-papers published now in E~gene, Oregon, in at least one issue of such <br /> <br />daily papers, two 'eeeks prior to the time of .the sale; and they may also give. <br /> <br />notice of the sale of s~dd bonds in such other papers as they deem to be best for <br /> <br /> a · if no satisfactory bids for the <br />the interest of the city in effecting a s lc, but, <br /> <br />purchase of the bonds be,recopy, ed, they may sell them at private sale at not less <br />than at par an,! accrue! interest. <br /> <br />Om motion Council adjourned. <br /> <br />Geo.
