Present Mayor E.B.Parks and Councilmen Monroe, Slmmon:~, L~b, MoCuL[~ and <br />rugh. Absent Williamson, Washburne and Large. Meeting called to oztder at 7;30 <br />o'clock p.,m. ' <br /> <br /> The 21re and Wafter Committe~ reported aiversely on the petition to extend <br />the Fire Limits. On motion such raport was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> A petition was received to grade and gravel the alley between Oak and Pea~]~ <br />Streets from 15th to 16th Avenues. Same was referred to the Road and Street <br />Committee, whl.~h reported favorably on such Petition. On motion such report <br />w.~sunaalmously s~lopted. <br /> <br /> A petition was received asking that 16th Azenue between 011ye and Charnel- <br />ton Streets be opened. Same was referred to the City Engineer. <br /> <br /> A petition was received from several ministers, undertakers, and other, <br />asking an Ordinance be passed prohibiting theholdlng of funerals on Sunday exeep~ <br />la certain cases. Same was deferred tills11 members of the Cm~ncll are present. <br /> <br />The following resolution was offered and unanimously adopted: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION. <br /> <br /> RESOLVED that the Building Inspector be and he is hereby directed to grunt ~o <br />building permits in the down town district ~iz:until after a conference with and <br />the consent of the Fire and Water Co~nittee, pending the drafting of an Ordinance <br />providing for a re-establishment of the Fire Limits of the City of Eugene, and <br />providing for the characte~ of buildings to be erected therein and for the amount <br />and character of repair and reconstruction to be permitted therein. <br /> <br />The followlngresolutlon was offered andunanimously adopted: <br /> <br /> R E S 0 LU T I 0 N. <br /> <br /> W,~E~EAS, the water Board has acqulred a piece of property the tltleto whlch <br />defective, end which ~an be cured by a suit to quiet title, <br /> <br /> BE IT ~EEOLVED by the Co,non Council of the City of Eugene, Oregon, that <br />the City Attorney be and he is hereby directed and authorized to commence a suit. <br />to q,~let title to the following described premises: <br /> Beginning at a po!at 16 feet south of the southeast corner <br /> of Co~nty Survey No. 236 of the recorded ,~u~veys of Lane <br /> County, Oregon, and rt~ning thence east along the north <br /> line of Eighth Aven~e East in the City of ~hgene, 0reg~m, <br />82 feet or to a point 36 feet east of the southeast corner <br />cf said survey, thence north to the railroad right of way <br />of the 0 & C R.R.
