<br />Said Matter was referred to the S. ewer Comrni. ttee, and it asked for additional time
<br />in which to report, and said request was granted until th~ next regula~ .or ad-

<br /> Messrs. Day, Hales, Campbell, J,~hnson, Hayes, Pratt, H, ollenbeck and others,
<br />appeared and spoke on the question of widening several of the dowutown s.treets
<br />and on the questioner cement gutters. No action was taken.
<br />
<br /> C.G.MoKy appeared and spoke on his assessment on Almaden Street in that'S\
<br />he wa~ a~sessed f,~r an acreage tract which assessment he has been compelled
<br />to pay to clear title to a tract about 66 feet deep abutting said sire'et and
<br />now is absut to be a~sessed for llth Avenue improvement abutting said property-,,
<br />Th% ~lty-Attorney was instrubted tb draw an ordinance re':lmbursing Mr.
<br />for the p$yment ramie on that part of the property back of bis property abutting
<br />Almaden Street and back 160 feet, and the Treasruer be instructed to be re-lnsta%~
<br />that property back of the McKy pr'operty to 160 feet on the assessment roll of
<br />the city.

<br /> A petition was read to aba'be the present ,_tog podhd on Madison Street. Said
<br />matter was referred to the Police Committee with Power to act.
<br />
<br /> A petition was received from the Mlorists of the city, asking the petition
<br />of the ministers and others that Sunday funerals be prohibited be granted. On
<br />motion the said matter was laid on the table;, councilman McC.ully objecting there-
<br />to,

<br /> A p etltion was received asking that 12th Avenue from VanBuren t,~ .Tyler
<br />Streets be opened. Said matter was referred to the Street Co~'~nittee.

<br /> A petition was received from P,.B. Henderson to re-sHingle his residence at
<br />612 Oak Street. Said matter was referred to the i~ire and Water Co~nlttee.
<br />
<br /> H.B. Taylor petitioned that the south 60 feet in the south end of the alley
<br />running betwee~ Willemette and Olive Streets and bet;~een 12th and 13th Avenues be
<br />opened. Said matter Was referred to the Street Comm, ittee, and the City khgineer.
<br />
<br /> The City Attorney presented a petition for A.E. Wheeler asking that a friend-
<br />ly suit be instituted t.~ dedicate the alley between 8th and 9th Aves. from
<br />Lawrence and Llno,~ln Street,~. Said matter was referred to the Street Committee,
<br />City Engineer a~d City Attorney.

<br /> This being the return date thereon protests were called for relative to the
<br /> proposed assessments of llth Avenue West from Tyler ,o Chambers Streets, and on
<br /> Longvlew Street from the end of the present pavement to the end of said steet,
<br /> None were ~ade.

<br /> stating the assessments are far In excess of the value of said property, and of-
<br /> Fered to pay cash to the ~nount of the appraised value of said property If the
<br /> city would have said lot a~ralsed. 0n motion, It was ordered the Board of
<br />'~ appraisers cons!stag of J.W.~{ob~s, P. Aug. Peter~on and Loyall ~:2h appraise said
<br /> lot ~s to valu~ sad rep,~rt to the council thereon.
