<br />llth, 1926, as per ad.Joarmnent. There were present Mayor E U Zee and all members
<br />of the CounCil, ~xcept Sl~ona ~nd Large, who were absent. Meeting called to
<br />order by the }~ayor.

<br /> The Street Committee reported on the various bids f.~r street improvements
<br />as a4vertised for August 9th, 1926. and recommended the following bids be accept-
<br />ed:

<br /> To Pave Olive Street fr~m 13th to 15t'h Aves. with concrete, Sblen Bros. at
<br /> $7490.50.
<br /> To Pave 4th Avenue from Blair to Polk SSs. with concrete, Stlen Bros. at
<br /> $7399.68.
<br /> To pave Washington Street from s,~uth boundary of S P Ry. ~lgh~, of way. to
<br /> llth Ave. with concrete, Stlen Bros. at
<br /> To pave Perry Street from 11th to 13th. Ayes. with concrete, Nels Jorgenson
<br /> at $5776.75.
<br /> To pave Almaden Street 'from llth to 12th Aves. with concrete, C.G.MoKy at
<br />$3033,00
<br /> To pave Jfferson Street fromlst to Clark SSs., with concrete, C.G.Mo}fy at

<br />On motion the reports:of the Street Co~r~nittee aa to each of said improvements bids
<br />were unanimously e.b:pted and the Mayor and ~ecorder were directed to enter !nfo a
<br />contract with each successful bidder for such contract work.

<br /> The Sewer Committee reported on the bids for the two sewer Improvements con-
<br />templated and on which bids were called for August 9th, 1926, and reoom~ended the
<br />following bids be accepted:
<br /> To construes a sewer between Moss and Vlllard Sts. from ~alrmount olvd. to
<br />Longvlew Street, Yunker and Wi.ekes and Co., at $222.50.
<br /> To construct a sewer on the west side of Willamette St. from 16th to 18th
<br />Aves., Yunker, Wlecks and Co. at $1917.5G.

<br />0n motion the reports of the Sewer Con~nlttee as to said two improvements were unan:.
<br />mously adopted and the Mayor and Recorder dlree'ted to enter into a contract with
<br />the successful bld.ier for such improve:nonS work.

<br /> C.E. Ruth appeared and askei permls~!on to construct a eorrogated iron build-
<br />ing near the corner of 5th Avenue and Olive Street, where he how conducts business.
<br />Such matter was referred to the Hire and Water Committee.
<br />
<br /> The matter of a street flusher as discussed at the last meeting was again
<br />taken up and it was recommended a representative of the Wentworth Co., be here at
<br />the meeting on August 23rd, 1926.
<br />
<br /> Amelia Aya appeared by her son and objected to the city attempting to assess
<br />her property on Taylor Street for the paving of Taylor Street between 9th and 10th
<br />Avenues as the deed tendered the city calls for the assessing of pr,perry back 160
<br />Feet and her property only extends back 100 feet. The City Attorney explained 15
<br />would cost the city about $600.00 to bear the expense of thepaving under the rule
<br />as asked by Aya and that the property can only be assessed under the rule now in
<br />force, or the abutting rule, and that at the time the Ayao~er was made the 160
<br />foot rule was in force, and he reoon~aended that Aya be required to submit a d4ed
<br />in conformity with the present method of paving on that the city re,~clnd its
<br />agreement with Mrs. Aye, and notify the contractor to whom the award was made to
<br />pave such street to suspend operation until further notified. On motion unanimously
<br />carried such recommendation was adopted.
<br />
<br /> An Ordinance making it an offense to molest, injure or deface property of the
<br />City of EUgene, or any public property or any street barrier or structure in the
<br />City, was read the first time and passed its second and third readings by title by
<br />unanimous consent under suspension of the rule and was placed on its final passage.
<br />The ayes and nays were called, all present voting aye. nay none. The Ordinance was
