<br /> Minutes of the adjourned meeting of the Conzmon Council h~ld September 27th,
<br />-1926, at 7;30 o'Clock P.M. there being present Y. ayor E.U. lee and all members
<br /> ~f the Council, except, Simmons, who was absent.
<br />
<br /> · A petition waspre.~ented for a light on 22nd Avenue between. Lawrence and
<br />Washington Streets.' Said matter was referred to the Fire and Water Committee.
<br />
<br /> M,N. Boney appeared and asked for a street ~ight in the alley between Olive
<br />and Charnelton Streets from ~$th to 6th Aves. Said matter was referred to the
<br />Flre and Water Committee.
<br />
<br /> · The Judiciary Committee reported on the claim of N. 1. Gaylord as to his
<br /> claim for a curb destroyed by the paving 9fl0th Avenue W. and recommended such
<br /> claim be not allowed. On mot ion such report was adopted.
<br />
<br /> The Inspector of Bulldings reported on the proposed additions to the
<br /> electrical code and the said report was referreci to the Judiciary Committee.
<br />
<br /> · ,The Mayor armor,need the appolntmen~ of Mrs. Virginia Judy Esterly Dean
<br /> of Women of the U. of 0. and Mrs. M.S. Ady, as members of the License Commission
<br /> ,, rider the. Dance 0rd lnance. On motion, such appointments were confirmed. ,.
<br /> Chairman McCuDLy of'the Fire ~nd water Committee ~resented an oral appli-
<br /> cation by A, C. Granzer of Easkells Store for a change in the front of that
<br /> bullding and rec.~mmended such application be graxted. On mot ion, such recommen-
<br /> dation was approved. .
<br />
<br /> Chairman McCully of the ~lre and W~ter Committee also stated the~e is to be
<br /> a Flrem. ans Convention in Fresno, California, on October 12th to 15th and the
<br /> advisib~lity ef sending Chief Nus~aum to such me~t~ng was discussed. No action
<br /> was taken.
<br />
<br /> CounCilman Williamson spoke on being unable to locate the City Engineer at
<br /> tlm~s and suggested the Engineer be required to set aside at least one hour
<br /> a day when he may bef~und in his office. The Mayor stated he would speak to
<br />_ the EnginEEr to that effect.
<br />
<br /> The SeWer COmmittee recommended sewers be constructed in the city as. follows:
<br /> Sanitary re-construction: 15th Avenue, Pearl to Hilyard, 16th Ave. Pearl t$

<br /> The estimate of W.W. Head construction Co. for the Paving of Petter St.
<br />~rom 18th to 23rd Aves. in the amount of $17,412.§2, was ordered Paid.

<br /> The estimate of Stien Bros, f~r the paving of Jefferson Street from 4th
<br />te lSth Aves. in the amount of $26,467.£4, was ordered paid.
<br />
<br /> The estimate of Nels Jorgenson, for the paving of 18th Ave. from Olive ,
<br />to Charnelton S~s., in the amount of $2380.65, was ordered paid.

<br /> An Ordinance, levying assessments for paving Jeff~on Street from 4th te
<br />13th Aves., was read the first time end laid over.
<br />
<br /> Am 0rdinanoe levying assessments for pa~ng Jefferson Street from 1st te 4th
<br />Aves., .was read the first time and laid over.
<br />
<br /> An 0rdlnanee levying assessments for paving the alley between Wilianette
<br />an4 Olive Sts. from 6th to 10th Aves., was rea4 the first time ami laid over.
<br />
<br /> An Ordinance to construct a sewer between LincoLn and Lawrence Sis. from
<br />Cheshire St. north thru said block, was read the first time and passed its
<br />second and third readings by t.itle by unanimous consent undersuspension of the
<br />rule a~d was placed on its final passage. The ayes and nays were called, all
<br />present voting aye. nay none. The 0rdinence was declared passed and numbere~
<br />5589.
