Council Chambers, EugeAe, Oregon. Pebruary 28th, 1927. Minutes of the adjourned meeting of the Common Jot ' m~il held'February 28th, 1927. There were present Mayor A.L. Wllliamson and all members of the Council. Committee reports were called for: The .Judiciary Committee reported it was not ready t,) report on the proposed Ordinance imposing a license fee for cutting graded street. Ii'also reported an adjustment is being made in the matter of the petition ~o have the signs removed from the corner of Monroe Street and 8th and .Blair Streets. The matter was held till the next meeting of the Council. The 21namoe Committee re,erred on the 011 contracts tendered by the Union Oil, Shell JO, Standard Oil and ASsOciated Oil COmpanies and recommended the same be accepted and the Mayor and Recorder were dlreote4 to enter into a con~ tract with such companie& to furnish gasoline for 5he ensuing year. The Minance Committee also reco:mnended the following bl~ls be paid: W.W. Head Con~t. Co. gligene Sand and Gravel Co. On roll call the same were allowed. 178. co 45. 50 Phe Street Committee asked for more time to report on the petition to pave Pearl Street from end of present pavement to 19th Ave; Mill~ Street fro~ 16th to 19tt~ Aves, aa4 to smarlfy 15th Avenue from Agate to Moss Sis. More time granted. The City Attorney reported on the petition to vacate portions of Fa. ir- mount ~lvd., stating M. sVarver~d' is to get the individual signers abutZlng on such street to agree in writing to such vacation. Such matter was continued. The ~lre and Water 'Jommittee reported favorably on the petition to have a street light installed at the corner of Cross Street and Taylor Street. On motion such report was ~iopted. The Po[ice CommiTTee recommended Elmer Gei~er and Wlnlfred Mulllns be placed on the payroll as Police officers at a s.alSry of $125.00 per month each. On motion such reportwas adopted by roll call. The Park Board reported on the petition to close Hendrleks and Butte Parks nights at lO;G0 o'clock P.M. and recommended the petition be denied. On motion the petition was laid on the table. The Health Con~nittee reported favorably on the bid of Dr.H.H. Fascett to do the bacterial milk tests for the city at a rate cf $4~.00 er month on s~nples .)er month and at .~35.00 per month on the next 100 samples and a further reduction in numbers in excess of 200. On motion such :.,e[~rt was approved. The Health Committee reported It can do nothing relative to the petition to prevent the .Eugene Hospital from maintaining a pest house adjacent ct its hospital and found it to be a matter to be met by civil action by the petition- ers. On motion such report was ~Jopted. The Mayor appoin.ed L.G. Helterllne Milk Inspector at a salary of $75.00 per montH and on, motion such appointment was unanimously confirmed. Bids were opened as per the call for paving Mill Str eot from l~th to 16th Avenues, as follows: W.W. Head Construction Jo. $10805.00 Hargreaves and Dlndsay D1318.00 Stien Bros. 11616.50 Said blds were referred to the Street Com~lttee for report and it recommende,l 'the bid of W.W. Head Const. Co. at $108.05.00. On motion, such report was adopt- ed nd the Mayor and ReCorder were. a.uthorlzed to enter into a contract with the successful b.ldder.for such contract work. Bids were opened as per the call for Paving 16th Avenue from Willamette to Alder Sts., as follows: W.W. Head Const. Co. Stlen Bros.
