Council Chambers, EugeAe, Oregon. Pebruary 28th, 1927. <br /> <br /> Minutes of the adjourned meeting of the Common Jot ' <br /> m~il held'February 28th, <br />1927. There were present Mayor A.L. Wllliamson and all members of the Council. <br /> Committee reports were called for: <br /> <br /> The .Judiciary Committee reported it was not ready t,) report on the proposed <br />Ordinance imposing a license fee for cutting graded street. Ii'also reported <br />an adjustment is being made in the matter of the petition ~o have the signs <br />removed from the corner of Monroe Street and 8th and .Blair Streets. The matter <br />was held till the next meeting of the Council. <br /> <br /> The 21namoe Committee re,erred on the 011 contracts tendered by the Union <br />Oil, Shell JO, Standard Oil and ASsOciated Oil COmpanies and recommended the <br />same be accepted and the Mayor and Recorder were dlreote4 to enter into a con~ <br />tract with such companie& to furnish gasoline for 5he ensuing year. <br /> <br /> The Minance Committee also reco:mnended the following bl~ls be paid: <br /> <br /> W.W. Head Con~t. Co. <br />gligene Sand and Gravel Co. <br />On roll call the same were allowed. <br /> <br />178. co <br /> 45. 50 <br /> <br /> Phe Street Committee asked for more time to report on the petition to pave <br />Pearl Street from end of present pavement to 19th Ave; Mill~ Street fro~ 16th to <br />19tt~ Aves, aa4 to smarlfy 15th Avenue from Agate to Moss Sis. More time <br />granted. <br /> <br /> The City Attorney reported on the petition to vacate portions of Fa. ir- <br />mount ~lvd., stating M. sVarver~d' is to get the individual signers abutZlng on <br />such street to agree in writing to such vacation. Such matter was continued. <br /> <br /> The ~lre and Water 'Jommittee reported favorably on the petition to have <br />a street light installed at the corner of Cross Street and Taylor Street. On <br />motion such report was ~iopted. <br /> <br /> The Po[ice CommiTTee recommended Elmer Gei~er and Wlnlfred Mulllns be <br />placed on the payroll as Police officers at a s.alSry of $125.00 per month each. <br />On motion such reportwas adopted by roll call. <br /> <br /> The Park Board reported on the petition to close Hendrleks and Butte Parks <br />nights at lO;G0 o'clock P.M. and recommended the petition be denied. On motion <br />the petition was laid on the table. <br /> <br /> The Health Con~nittee reported favorably on the bid of Dr.H.H. Fascett to do <br />the bacterial milk tests for the city at a rate cf $4~.00 er month on <br />s~nples .)er month and at .~35.00 per month on the next 100 samples and a further <br />reduction in numbers in excess of 200. On motion such :.,e[~rt was approved. <br /> <br /> The Health Committee reported It can do nothing relative to the petition <br />to prevent the .Eugene Hospital from maintaining a pest house adjacent ct its <br />hospital and found it to be a matter to be met by civil action by the petition- <br />ers. On motion such report was ~Jopted. <br /> <br /> The Mayor appoin.ed L.G. Helterllne Milk Inspector at a salary of $75.00 <br />per montH and on, motion such appointment was unanimously confirmed. <br /> <br /> Bids were opened as per the call for paving Mill Str eot from l~th to 16th <br />Avenues, as follows: <br /> W.W. Head Construction Jo. $10805.00 <br /> Hargreaves and Dlndsay D1318.00 <br /> Stien Bros. 11616.50 <br />Said blds were referred to the Street Com~lttee for report and it recommende,l <br /> <br />'the bid of W.W. Head Const. Co. at $108.05.00. On motion, such report was adopt- <br />ed nd the Mayor and ReCorder were. a.uthorlzed to enter into a contract with the <br />successful b.ldder.for such contract work. <br /> <br />Bids were opened as per the call for Paving 16th Avenue from Willamette <br /> <br />to Alder Sts., <br /> <br /> as follows: <br />W.W.
