Simons appeared and spoke as to th~ road adj~ent to his home <br />on Falrmount Blvd., In which there ls an eleetr~exI~ght pole needlDg ~o be , <br />moved therefrom and also surplus gravel ~d debris to be move~. Said ma~er <br />w~ referr~ to the Street Ce~lttee and the City AtterneM. <br /> <br /> · L.P. Eavmon appeared and requested an estimate on Victoria Heights be <br />leased to him before the expiration ef time of p~vment. Om motion, eueh <br />request was grs~ed on condition his assignment and garnis?~nent action is <br />le~_~ed. <br /> <br /> L.P. Harmon also a~ked permis.~lon to construct a retaining wall along the <br /> line of his lots recently purchased from the clt¥ on South Willamette Street. <br /> Said matter was referred to the Sewer, Committee and th~ Cl,t¥ Engineer. <br /> <br /> 'Co~lttee reporte~, were ~alled for:- <br /> <br /> The Judiciary Co~ttee reported on the D. J. Koupal obJect~en to the <br />~-~widenlng of 19th Avenue adjacent to his let at 19th ~d <br /> reverends4 the proposed widening of said street from Patterson to Hil~ar4 Sis. <br /> be abondon~. On motion such report was un~lmeusly <br /> <br /> The Judiciary Committee reported on the claim of C.L. Kelly for re-Con- <br />struc~lon of a driveway at 2187 University Street, reco~nending the claim be <br />not allowed as not being a city liability. 0n motion such recommendation was <br />adopt e~. <br /> <br /> Councilmen McCully spoke of the city's promise to buil~ a walk <br />adJa cent to the Mouse property om Van Buren Street, stating the work has not <br />been done and recommended such walk be now built. 0n motion such recommendation <br />was e~iopt ed. <br /> <br /> The Street Committee asked for more time to report on the <br />petitions to pave Emerald Street from 23rd to 24th Avenues, Orchard Streets <br />from Franklin Blvd. to 19th Avenue and 12th Avenue from Van huron to Tyler <br />Street. More time was grmted. <br /> <br /> The Street COmmittee spoke on the condition ~f 14th Avenue from Universit~ <br />to Agate Sis. snd recommended the same be paved. On motion, such recommendation <br />waa approved. <br /> <br /> The Street Committee 'a!s.~ recommended the ground within west 8th Avenue <br />a~Jaceat to the Huddleston Block be condemned to the full width of .said street, <br />and the City ?Ngineer was directed to prep ere plans therefor. <br /> <br /> The Street Committee recommended that in the paving of 15th Avenue said <br />paving be extended 6 feet lnt.e the intersection at Klncald Street. 0n motion <br />such report was adopted. <br /> <br /> The Fire and Water Co~mittee reported it had thoroughly investigated the <br />question of the purchase of ~ire Hydrants for the city and found the bid of <br />Veltum and CLew at $§0.00 each, was the best offered and recommended 12 be <br />purchased at $50.00 each.- Such report was adopted by roll call. <br /> <br /> The ~Ire and Water C°n~aittee recommended the petition be granted asking <br />for a street light at the Intersection of Olive St. and 22nd Ave. On motion <br />such report was adopted. <br /> <br /> The Fire and Water Committee reported ~t and the Inspector of Bu£1dlngs have <br />investigated th~ matters appearing i-fl the petition of Vans Distributing <br />the constru0tion of a garage, oil warehouse, pu~ house, etc. on lots 1, and <br />2, Block lO of S!a~dens 5rd Additio~ ~nd found the matter in wholly u~der the <br />Jur[~l,tlen of the Inspector ef Buildings.
