An Act to amend the Charter of the City of Eugene by ~i,iing a new chapter thereto, authorizing and empowering the Common Council of the City to issue and sellnegotiable bonds of the City to the amount of Ten Thousand Dollars, or so much thereof as m~v be necessary for the purpose of construct- lng four bridges over the Amazon Slough in the City of Eugene, Oregon. THE CITY 02 EUGENE DO ~o ORDAIN AS MOLLO'~S: Section 1. The Common CoUncil of the City of Eugene, Oregon, is hereby empowered te issue end sell negotiable bond.s ofjhe city to the amount of Ten ThOusand Dollars, or so much thereof as meF be necessary for the con- struction of four wooden bridg.es ever th,~e ~:~az. on S.[oug.h, one at the inter- section of the Slough with each of tt~e f.~li6wlng street: Lm~reace Street, Lincoln Street, Oak Street an~ Pearl Street, and to expen~ the money therefor in the construction_Of such b_rldges. Section 2. The .bonds hereby m~thorized shall be denominated "Amazon Bridge Bonds' and shall be in such form and of such denomination as will, in the Judgment of the Common Council be most likely to conduce to t~heir salability. They shall be made due and payable in thrity years from the date · f their issuance, and shall bear interest at a rate of not to exceed five per cent per ennum, interest payable semi-annually. . ,. Section 3. Said bonds shall be a general obligation of the Ctty ef Eugene, ~and the Conzmon Council of the City ~f Eugene is hereby authorized te include in its general municipal tax levy each year sufficient special levy as shall aggregate an amount sufficient to pay the interest on the bonds end provide a sinking fund for the payment of the bonds when due. Section 4. The Common Council of the City is hereby authorized to issue and sll the said bonds, from time to time as they may be needed for the purpose herein specified, but before any of them shall be sold they shall be advertised for sale, by publication of a notice asking for bids therefor, to be published in the two dailsy newspapers, now published in--Eugen~0regon, or their successors, in at least onelssue of such dally papers, two weeksprior t~
