<br /> Minutes of the regular meeting of the Common Council held August 8th, 1927m

<br /> cil Weshburne presided. There were present all members of the Council, except
<br /> McCully a~d Hendershott, who were absent. Minutes of the meetings eF July llth
<br /> a~d 2~th, 192V, read and approved as corrected.

<br /> C.D. Rorer appeared and asked permls.~lon to make alterations in the building
<br />located at lOth and Oak Sts., stating two buildings on the lot would be torn down
<br />end the one building repaired, moved back and a business front placed .thereon. Ee
<br />submitte~ a plan thereof ~after. discussion such petition wa~ granted, the work to
<br />be under the Supervision of the Inspector of Buildings.

<br /> Several People being present 'to speak on the question of removing the rails
<br />l~Lconnectlon with the proposed cbs,ge from street car to Bus Service, the proposed
<br />Ordinance covering such matter was read the first time. C.D. Rorer, Will Gordon,
<br />E.H. Woods end others spoke on the matter, it being sugges~e~l' if service is so
<br />ct~anged and the Rallroa~ Cc. p~rmltted to pave over the rails, such company be
<br />required to file an indemnity ben,t, the ~ondltlon of which :~ond not being Stated.
<br />On ~otlon, by Large, seconded by !~eid~ it w'e~ voted a committee of three from the
<br />Chamber of Commerce to consist of A.I~. Brigham ~s ohai~n~, D.C. Rorer and Will
<br />Gordoh be designated to investigate the ~iv[sibility cf pav~g over the rails and
<br />to fln4 out the ~ondltlon of the ties at this time ~d to otherwise g~t informa-
<br />tion on the subject from all sources obtmlaable ~4 report at the next meeting of
<br />tl~e Ceuncl!.

<br /> The Street Co:muittee reco,~ended a petition filed this dat~ to pave Lawrence
<br />Street from 13.th to 17th Avenues be g~aated. On motion such reconmnendatlon was
<br />adopted.

<br /> The Street Committee recommended the petition to p~ve 23r~Ave. ~rom Columbia
<br />Sb. to Spring Blvd., which petition h~ been on file For several'months, be
<br />grated, stating the property there bears the n~essary ~sessed valuation. On
<br />motl,~n such reco~endatlon was ~opted.

<br /> The Street Co~nmlttee reported on the petition to pave Monroe St. from 4th to
<br />6th A~es. and the question of g~anting such petition by enlarging the area to
<br />embrace said s~reet from'Vth Ave. to the S.P. rallwa~t trac~ was ,llscussed. It was
<br />then recommended by the Street Co~mtttee that said street be paved from yth Ave. to
<br />the S.P. ~a. llway track and, on motion, such reco~mnendatlon was unanimously adopted.

<br /> The Sewer Committee reported F.C,.Getty has asked for a sew,? between 19th and
<br />2Otb Aves., from the existing seweB between ~h. Oark and Pearl Sts. to the alley
<br />between Wlllanettc m~d Oak Sts., and recommende~ it be constructed. On motion such
<br />recormnendation we~ ~iopted. ' '

<br /> A petition was received to pave Colu~bia s~reet from 23rd to 24th Aves. On
<br />motion such matter was referred to the Street Committee.

<br />from 2nd to 4th Aves., to Pavlng 2nd ~ve. from Pearl to High Stm., and to Paving
<br />5rd Ave. from Pearl to High Sts.whlch strsets were or,lered paved at the last meeting
<br />· f the Council, J.O. Watts, lLN. Davenport and others spoke and 'the matter was
<br />discusse~o It was finally race.remanded by the Street Committee the former action
<br />be rescinded en.~' the whole matter referr&d back to the petitioners to ascertain
<br />the wishes of the Interested pestles. On motion such report was adopte~.

<br />A rooming hou~.e permit w, as gr~nted to P.H. Pohl ~o operate at 20th 8th Ave.

<br /> A Petition wa~ received From the Park Board asking hydrants be Placed in
<br />Butte and Hendrlcks Perk.~ to eliminate the Plre hazards. The matter wes discussed
<br />and, on motion, laid on the.table for further consideration.
<br />
<br /> The Water Board rendered a bill for $780.00 fo~ lights alleged not paid for
<br /> t.hru _error lm b~lllng. The matter was discUssed and different bouncllmen spoke
<br />on the many lights not burlng for weeks altho .the city has been billed for the
<br />same and the ~ounts paid, After discussion, on motion, unanimously carried, the
