IF686 <br />18. Encourage research and development of products and markets <br />resulting in more efficient use of underutilized renewable and <br />nonrenewable resources, including wood waste, recyclable mater - <br />i al s , and solar energy. <br />19. Reserve several areas within the urban growth boundary for large- <br />scale, campus- rtype, light manufacturing uses. (See diagram for <br />locations so designated.) <br />20. Review local ordinances and revise them to promote greater f l e x i - <br />b i l i t y for promoting appropriate commercial development in resi- <br />dential neighborhoods,,. <br />21. Provide for limiting mixing of office, commercial, and industrial <br />under procedures which clearly define the conditions under which <br />such uses shall be permitted and (1) preserve the suitability of <br />the affected areas. for their primary uses, (2) assure compatibility, <br />and (3) consider the potential for increased traffic congestion. <br />22. Continue to evaluate other sites in and around Springfield and <br />Eugene for potential light - medium industrial and special light <br />industrial uses as well as potential residential uses. <br />230 Pursue an aggressive annexation program and sere i c i.ng of designated <br />industrial lands in order to have a sufficient supply of 'development <br />ready' land. <br />III -B -6 <br />
