9.6215 Credit for Preservation of Herita a Trees Variable credit shall be allowed for <br />� — n III Iln.l I.Pllll.i.lnlnlnl. ��IPlnnl.11 f Ir <br />preservation of heritage trees, as defined in the adopted Enene Urban Forest <br />Management Plan The planning and development director shall determine the value <br />of the Heritage Tree, according to formulas established in Valuation of Landsca e <br />Trees, Shrubs and ( Other Plants (International Society of Arboriculture) and shall <br />relieve the contractor /developer from planting a number of trees having a value of up <br />to 50 percent of the value of the Heritage Tree preserved. <br />9.6220 Installation and Maintenance Installed plant materials shall meet current nursery <br />industry standards, including necessary soil depth and quality. All required landscape <br />areas soils shall extend to the native soil. Plant materials shall be properly supported <br />to ensure survival. Support devices such as guy wires or stakes shall not interfere <br />with vehicular or pedestrian movement. Maintenance of landscaped areas is the <br />ongoing responsibility of the property owner. All landscaping shall be installed and <br />maintained to protect it from vehicular damage through the use of curbing, to provide <br />adequate vision clearance, and to maintain plant materials in a healthy and attractive <br />manner. Required shrubs and trees shall not be pruned or sheared below their code- <br />required spread or height. <br />9.6225 Irrigation An automatically controlled irrigation system shall be provided for all <br />plant materials used to meet these landscape standards. Drip irrigation and low - <br />gallon systems are encouraged for non -turf areas. The irrigation system need not <br />provide water to unplanted areas, or to areas where existing native plants have been <br />preserved. The irrigation systems shall be maintained and operated in a manner that <br />promotes the health and appearance of the plant material while minimizing water use <br />and avoiding excessive run -off. <br />9.6230 Landscape Plans. Landscape plans shall be submitted *n a manner approved by the <br />city manager showing all proposed landscaped areas and verification by an Oregon <br />licensed landscape architect that the plan complies with the applicable landscape <br />standards in this land use code. <br />9.6235 Pla nt Materials Standards. <br />1) Shrubs and Ground Cover. All required plant materials shall be of sufficient <br />size and number to meet the required 70 percent coverage. standard within 3 to 5 <br />years according to the type of landscape standard being addressed. (Mulch is not <br />a substitute for ground cover plants. All required shrubs shall be in at least 3 <br />gallon containers prior to planting, unless otherwise specified. <br />(2) Trees. Except where 1 or the other is specified elsewhere in this code, trees <br />may be either deciduous or evergreen varieties. Required canopy trees at the <br />time of planting must be fully branched and have a minimum diameter of 2 <br />inches as measured by American Association of Nurserymen Standards. <br />Required evergreen trees at the time of planting must be fully branched and a <br />Ordinance - 217 <br />
