capacity for flood waters, protection against erosion sediment removal, fisheries <br />habitat, and groundwater recharge or discharge. <br />Natural Resource Area. The area within the mapped boundaries of any locally <br />inventoried wetland, pond, stream, channel, river, lake or upland wildlife habitat area. <br />Neighborhood Activity Center. A building or premises used for recreational, social, <br />educational, or cultural activities, open to the public or a designated part of the public, <br />which is a common destination or focal point for community activities. Includes <br />primary and secondary schools, neighborhood parks and playgrounds, and shopping <br />centers. <br />Nodal Development. A mixed use, pedestrian friendly land use pattern that seeks to <br />increase concentrations of population and employment in well - defined areas with <br />good transit service, a mix of diverse and compatible land uses, and public and private <br />improvements designed to be pedestrian and transit oriented. <br />North -South Dimension. The length of a line beginning at the midpoint of the <br />northern lot line and extending in a southerly direction perpendicular to the northern <br />lot line until it intersects another lot line. For irregularly shaped lots, the midpoints of <br />the 2 southernmost lot lines shall be connected to form a line for the purpose of <br />determining north -south dimension. (See Figure 9.2790(2)Solar Lot Requirements <br />and Figure 9.2795 Solar Setback Standards.) <br />Northern Lot Line. The lot line that creates the smallest angle with a line drawn <br />east -west and intersecting the northmost point of the lot. If the north line abuts an <br />undevelopable area on another lot other than a required yard area, the northern lot line <br />shall be at the north edge of such undevelopable area. If 2 lot lines have an identical <br />angle relative to a line drawn east -west, then the northern lot line shall be a line 10 <br />feet in length within the lot parallel with and at a maximum distance from the front lot <br />line. (See Figure 9.2790(2)Solar Lot Requirements.) <br />Nursing Home. A. residence, institution, or other place other than a hospital or <br />assisted living facility that operates and maintains facilities providing 24-hour convalescent or chronic care, or both, for 2 or more ill or infirm patients not related to <br />the nursing home administrator or owner by blood or marriage. Convalescent and <br />chronic care may include, but need not be limited to, the procedures commonly <br />employed in nursing and caring for the sick. For purposes of determining residential <br />density, if the design of the facility does not contain dwellings, as defined in this land <br />use code, then every 1.5 beds equals 1 dwelling. Fractional dwellings shall be <br />rounded to the next highest integer, e.g. 2 beds equals 2 dwellings. <br />Open Space.
