At the open house, visitors may view a display of recently completed 20- <br />minute neighborhood maps along with <br />other intriguing maps describing income <br />distribution, community health, street tree <br />canopy cover, pedestrian safety, and <br />other elements. Join this thought- <br />provoking evening of discussion centered <br />on the many influences and impacts of <br />20-minute neighborhoods in Eugene. <br /> <br />In addition to open discussions, there will <br />be two scheduled presentations: <br /> <br /> 5:30 p.m. - A short presentation <br />providing an overview of the 20- <br />minute neighborhoods assessment – <br />with time for questions afterward. <br /> <br /> 6:00 p.m. – Lane Coalition for <br />Healthy Active Youth hosts a <br />screening of the 30-minute film <br />Unnatural Causes - Place Matters - <br />with a facilitated discussion <br />afterward. <br /> <br />A peek at the 20-minute neighborhood maps is available online at www.eugene-or.gov/twentyminuteneighborhood. <br />For more information, please contact Matt McRae, City Manager’s Office, at matt.a.mcrae@ci.eugene.or.us or call <br />541-682-5485. <br /> <br />Grant to Fund Boater Education Field Kit <br />The Recreation Division’s Outdoor Program at the River House has been <br />awarded a $3,000 grant from the Oregon State Marine Board for its boater <br />education program. The grant, prepared by instructor Merry Petitclair, will be <br />used to create a “boater education field kit.” The kit will include a laptop, <br />generator, screen, case and other items needed to teach the Oregon Boater <br />Education curriculum in the field during classes at the Fern Ridge Reservoir. <br /> <br />The Oregon Boater Education curriculum is part of the program’s youth sailing <br />and boating program.
