(DOD 5220.22 -M)'. Non- rewritable media, such as CDs or non - usable hard drives, must <br />be physically destroyed. No sensitive or confidential City information should ever be <br />stored on personally -owned electronic devices and media or any cloud based storage. <br />4.4.5 Electronic Media Disposal Procedures <br />Prior to any change of ownership of computers, electronic media and electronic devices <br />must be sanitized by using software that is compliant with Department of Defense <br />standards (DQD 5220.22 -M). The following disposal procedures should be adhered to: <br />• All computers housed or maintained by Regional Information. Systems (RIS) must <br />follow its Technology Equipment Disposal Policy which is compliant with City's <br />requirements. <br />• All computer systems, electronic devices and electronic media that are <br />purchased and maintained by ISD must be securely sanitized and/or destroyed <br />by ISD. <br />• All printers or multi- function devices equipped with an internal storage <br />mechanism and managed by ISD must be securely sanitized by ISD. <br />• Any other City -owned computers, electronic devices and electronic media must <br />be securely sanitized and /or destroyed by their respective owners or sent to ISD <br />for proper disposal. <br />Approval date: <br />Last revision date: <br />Next review date: <br />' List of compliant software can be found at: <br />http: / /www. auburn .edu /oitlit _policies/edd_dod compliant apps.php <br />City of Eugene Electronic Media Disposal Policy 11/2010 Page 2 <br />
