City of Eugene <br />AGREEMENT TO ASSIGN PATENTS,AND COPYRIGHTS <br />AGREEMENT made 20_, between the City of Eugene, County of Lane, <br />(date) <br />State of Oregon, herein referred to as the "City ", and of <br />(Name) <br />Department, City of Eugene, County of Lane, State of Oregon, <br />(Department) <br />herein referred to as "Employee," concerning the disposition of patent rights to inventions. <br />The City encourages its employees to develop new ideas and to patent such ideas. The City recognizes the right of <br />employees to individually apply for patents and copyrights and to market products for which they have individual <br />responsibility and ownership. However, the City owns all propriety rights to an invention, design, or work <br />developed by City employees using City resources on or off duty. <br />An employee must disclose to the City any work, design, or invention developed using City resources. Employees <br />shall cooperate with the City in obtaining any patent or copyright. Employees must assign to the City all ownership <br />rights to any invention, design, or work developed by City employees using City resources on or off duty. <br />If the City decides not to pursue a patent or copyright, it w ll notify the Employee promptly and will reassign to the <br />Employee all rights which the Employee had assigned to the City. The City will retain all licenses even though it <br />reassigns to the Employee its rights to the patent or copyright. <br />Employees who apply for a patent or copyright for an invention, design, or work developed using City resources on <br />or off duty must inform your Executive Manager in writing about the application and the disposition of the <br />application. <br />SEE: City of Eugene, Human Resource and Risk Services Policy 3 -211 Patents /Copyrights in the APPM <br />Signature Date <br />
