Blair Boulevard Businesses Eligible for Free Renovation Funds and Volunteer Work <br />The City of Eugene’s Community Development Division, in partnership with Wells Fargo, and two local nonprofit <br />agencies, eDev and Neighborhood Economic Development Corporation (NEDCO), will award $9,500 in grants for <br />both exterior and interior improvements to businesses along Blair Boulevard <br />in Eugene. Three businesses will receive a $3,000 grant from Wells Fargo <br />for improvements. The businesses will be expected to complete their <br />renovations by the end of October. Wells Fargo employees plan to assist in <br />doing the renovation work. Extra technical assistance will also be provided <br />by eDev, NEDCO and professional community design volunteers. Once the <br />renovations are complete, a design review board will award an additional <br />$500 bonus grant from Wells Fargo to the most improved business. <br /> <br />The program is lending support and momentum to the exciting energy and <br />artistic creativity shown by the many small businesses in the Blair Boulevard <br />area. The award recognizes organizational excellence in <br />procurement by measuring innovation, professionalism, e-procurement, productivity, and leadership attributes of the <br />procurement function. AEP awardees obtain a high score on a rating of standardized criteria that represent the <br />leading edge of the industry. Led byAlseny Yansane, this troupe delights audiences with the high-spirited dance and high- <br />energy percussion of Guinea, West Africa. <br /> <br />Alseny Yansane, <br /> a long-time dancer with the world-renowned Les Ballets Africains, <br />has dazzled audiences around the globe with his fancy footwork, powerful percussion, <br />and heart-stopping acrobatics. He is internationally recognized as a cultural <br />ambassador for his knowledge of the dances, rhythms, and traditions of each <br />geographical region of Guinea. “Won Tan Nara” means "We Are One" in Susu, <br />Yansane’s native language. <br /> <br />The Downtown Library stays open until 8 p.m. on First Fridays. Set up a campsite on Saturday afternoon and swim at <br />Amazon Pool. Bring a dinner to cook outside, attend Free Shakespeare in the Park’s opening night, and then gather <br />around the campfire in Amazon Park. On Sunday, enjoy a free breakfast. Pre-registration is required.
