ATTACHMENT A <br /> <br />TO: Mayor Torrey and City Councilors <br />FROM: Kathy Smith, Chairperson <br />DATE: August 9, 2004 <br />RE: Committee's Recommendations <br /> <br />On behalf of the Committee on Economic Development, I am forwarding you our report and <br />recommendations. <br /> <br />The Committee was formed to "review past economic development strategic plans, identify <br />elements that are relevant today, and identify gaps and areas of opportunity for <br />improvement." We were called upon to move quickly to agreement on a few key actions that <br />could be accepted by the City Council and could have immediate effects on economic <br />development in Eugene. The City Council charged the Committee with reaching 75% <br />agreement on the recommendations. We achieved that goall <br /> <br />Our report is attached. If you have only a little time to read, please read the summary, <br />which highlights our main recommendations. The body of the report more fully explains the <br />reasoning behind our recommendations. <br /> <br />I and other Committee members will be at your Council work session on August 9 to <br />answer any questions you have. <br /> <br />On behalf of all the Committee members, thank you for:the opportunity to work on these <br />important issues. We anticipate you will find our recommendations merit Council action. <br /> <br /> <br />
