The mission of the Healthiest Employer <br />Program is to reward companies which demonstrate innovation and leadership <br />in their workplace wellness initiatives. The City’s comprehensive Health & <br />Fitness Program includes on-site fitness facilities, fitness classes, health and <br />wellness workshops, health risk appraisals, biometric health screenings, <br />smoking cessation programs, and employee flu clinics, and featured the City <br />Manager’s Activity Challenge this summer. The goals of the program are to <br />improve employee health and productivity and help control health care costs. <br /> <br />Organizations were assessed in seven key areas of workplace wellness: <br />culture and leadership, commitment, foundational components, strategic <br />planning, communications and marketing, programming and interventions, and <br />reporting and analysis. <br /> <br />For more information, contact Health & Fitness Director Steve Auferoth, Risk Services/Central Services Department, at <br /> <br />541-682-5610. <br /> <br />Sunday Is Fun Day for Kids and Family at Eugene Public Library <br />Kids and family are invited to drop in for free, fun activities Sunday afternoons at 3 p.m. at the Downtown Eugene <br />Public Library. All About Birds with Susan O’Donohoe of the McKenzie River Ranger District, Willamette National <br />Forest is on Oct. 23; on Oct. 30, hear Claire Ribaud perform Slightly Scary <br />Halloween Stories. <br /> <br />On Nov. 6, storyteller Kelly Terwilliger will share Tasty Tales about funny <br />feasts, clever cooks, and stirring adventures. On Nov. 13, join a Colonial Tea, <br />with games, crafts, and tea in the style of British colonists before the <br />Revolutionary War. <br /> <br />Make a recycled art garden of flowers and bugs with MECCA (Materials <br />Exchange Center for the Community Arts) on Nov. 20.
