<br />Goal 1: <br /> Engage in education, outreach and collaborations fostering respect for social equity, and <br />civil and human rights in the community. <br /> <br />Goal 2: <br /> Maintain strategic HRC liaisons and engage in cooperative endeavors with the <br />community and with City advisory groups that support human rights and social equity. <br /> <br />Goal 3: <br /> Effectively address selected human rights and social equity issue areas of concern to the <br />community and City. <br /> <br />The tasks proposed for the commission’s FY12-13 Work Plan, pending council approval, begin <br />December 2011, and are described in more detail in Attachment A. In addition, the HRC FY10-11 <br />Annual Report (Attachment B) provides documentation of the commission’s achievements, challenges <br />and commitments in achieving its work plan goals over the previous two years. <br /> <br /> <br />RELATED CITY POLICIES <br /> <br /> <br />Council outcomes for advisory groups include: <br /> <br /> <br />Board, commission and committee member development <br />o <br /> <br /> <br />Potential outcome: Advisory group members are effective and feel satisfied because they <br />o <br />have the training and support to be successful contributors – both before becoming <br />candidates for board and commission vacancies and following their appointments. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Human Rights Commission FY10-11 Work Plan, Goal Number 4 <br />– Move to a Human Rights <br />Community Framework <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Diversity & Equity Strategic Plan Goal 1.6 <br />– City of Eugene develops a plan for an organizational <br />human rights framework <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />City Code Chapter 2.013 and Chapter 4.613 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />COUNCIL OPTIONS <br /> <br /> <br />1.Approve the FY12/13 HRC Work Plan <br /> <br />2.Request additional information and/or discussion opportunities on this topic. <br /> <br />3.Take no action. <br /> <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER’S RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />The City Manager provides no recommendation, as the work plan is presented for council approval. <br /> <br /> <br />SUGGESTED MOTION <br /> <br />Move to approve the Human Rights Commission’s FY12/13 Work Plan. <br /> <br /> <br /> S:\CMO\2011 Council Agendas\M111116\S111116A.doc <br />
