<br />Snow Has Arrived – Get on It <br />Recreation Services’ Outdoor and Adult programs offer cross-country skiing and snowshoeing classes and excursions <br />January - March. <br /> <br />Adults can learn about snowshoes, bindings, footwear and off-trail <br />techniques from professional guide and naturalist Dave Walp. Trips <br />will focus on having fun while practicing backcountry skills and winter <br />safety. Trip dates are Feb. 4 (pre-trip meeting Feb. 1) and Feb. 18 <br />(pre-trip meeting Feb. 15). <br /> <br />Families can learn snowshoeing basics and make their first tracks on <br />Family Snowshoe Days on Jan. 28 and Feb. 11. A limited supply of <br />snowshoes is available for loan. <br /> <br />For the experienced, snowshoe trips are offered on Jan. 23, Feb. 14, <br />and March 6. Knowledgeable guides will lead these trips on the best <br />trails in the area. <br /> <br />Lessons for beginning and intermediate cross-country skiers are offered in February. The beginning class covers skills <br />needed for competent cross-country skiing on- and off-trail. The Level II class is designed to help develop control on hills <br />and efficiency on ups and downs. The Level I class is Feb. 4 (pre-trip meeting Jan. 31). The Level II class is Feb. 11 (pre- <br />trip meeting Feb. 7). <br /> <br />Adults can experience beautiful views and bountiful snow on an overnight excursion to Bend March 19 - 21. Participants <br />will stay two nights in Bend, ski or snowshoe near Mt. Admission is free. <br /> <br />The fair is a great opportunity to learn about alternative education programs in Eugene and Lane County. Find displays <br />and representatives from more than a dozen local private schools, charter schools, Eugene District 4J alternative <br />programs, and home schooling organizations, plus other educational resources available through the Eugene Public <br />Library, including homeschooling information and the online homework center. <br /> <br />This event is co-sponsored by the Eugene Public Library and the Eugene Waldorf School.
