MetropolitanWastewaterManagementCommissionCapitalImprovementProgram <br />FY12-13AssetManagementCapitalProjectStatusandBudget <br />EquipmentReplacementProgram <br />TheFY12-13CapitalProgramsbudgetincludes$229,767inEquipmentReplacementpurchases <br />thatareidentifiedonthetablebelow. <br />GritCollectors. <br />Theregionaltreatmentplant’sgritcollectorsareessentialtreatmentprocess <br />equipmentthatmovesettledgrittotheintakeofthegritslurrypumps.Thegritslurryis <br />subsequentlydewateredandproperlydisposed.Theexistingcollectorshavebeeninservicefor <br />16yearsandarecentinspectionconfirmedthattheyarenearingtheendoftheirusefullife. <br />VariableFrequencyDrives <br />.Theseparticulardrivesprovidepowerandcontroltotheregional <br />treatmentplant’sW2Pumps.TheW2Pumpsarecriticalequipmentprovidingrecycledeffluent <br />thatisusedacrosstheplantforavarietyofessentialapplications.ExamplesofW2wateruse <br />includecoolingandsealwaterforprocessequipment,coolingwaterforcogeneration,chemical <br />makeupwaterfordisinfectionanddechlorination,wash-downwater,surfacesprays,Biocycle <br />Farmirrigation,andWaterPollutionControlFacility(WPCF)lawnandlandscapeirrigation. <br />LocalControlPanelforReturnActivatedSludgePumps <br />.Theregionaltreatmentplant’s <br />returnactivatedsludgepumpsareessentialequipmenttothesecondarytreatmentprocess.The <br />pump’slocalcontrolpanelhasbeeninservicefor28yearsandhasreachedtheendofitsuseful <br />life.Thepumpsconveysettledsludgefromthesecondaryclarifierstotheaerationbasinsandthe <br />solidshandlingcomplex. <br />TotalOrganicCarbon(TOC)AnalysisSystem <br />.TheTOCanalyzerislaboratoryequipment <br />thatmeasurestheorganicfractionofcarboninwastewatersamples.Theanalysisisperformed <br />onsamplesforBiosolidsManagementFacilitygroundwatermonitoring,ambientsurfacewater <br />monitoring,andstormwatermonitoring. <br />ComputerReplacement. <br />Computerreplacementincludesscheduledreplacementofpersonal <br />computersandlaptopcomputers. <br />FleetReplacement. <br />NofleetreplacementneedsareanticipatedforFY12-13. <br />Page42PreliminaryFY12-13BUDGETANDCIP <br />
