The
recommendation describes the land need for housing, jobs, parks, and schools; recommends an Urban
Growth Boundary to accommodate the need; and outlines strategies and actions necessary to manage
growth in line with the community vision. The complete recommendation can be found at
www.envisioneugene.org.

A Public Hearing will be held on Monday, May 14. The agenda item summary for the public hearing
includes reports from the public forums and online survey. Additionally, the staff presentation for this
work session will summarize key themes that have surfaced throughout the public process.

An additional work session is scheduled with the council to discuss the recommendation on May 30.
The May 30 agenda item summary will include the City Manager’s recommendation for council action;
directing staff to move forward with the proposal as presented, or with a modified recommendation. The
result of council action will be the initiation of the formal adoption process, including additional
technical analysis as required by the State of Oregon.

RELATED CITY POLICIES

Growth Management Policies

COUNCIL OPTIONS
No action is required on this item at this time.

M:\CMO\2012 Council Agendas\M120516\S120516A.doc
