<br /> <br /> <br />ECC <br />UGENE ITY OUNCIL <br />AIS <br />GENDA TEM UMMARY <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Public Hearing and Possible Action: An Ordinance Concerning Location of City Hall <br />and Municipal Court; Amending Sections 1.010 and 2.772 of the Eugene Code, 1971; <br /> <br />and Providing an Immediate Effective Date <br /> <br /> <br />Meeting Date: May 21, 2012 Agenda Item Number: 1 <br />Department: City Manager’s Office Staff Contact: Beth Forrest <br />www.eugene-or.gov Contact Telephone Number: 541 682-5882 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />ISSUE STATEMENT <br /> <br />Due to the relocation of City Hall offices, minor Code amendments are needed that will add a definition <br />of “City Hall” to provide clarity throughout the Code that City Hall means the offices of the Mayor and <br />City Manager, and amend Section 2.772 of the Eugene Code, 1971, to revise the provision that requires <br />Municipal Court proceedings be held at 777 Pearl Street. This Code revision also grants authority to the <br />City Manager to establish other locations at which Municipal Court may be held. <br /> <br />The Municipal Court is scheduled to move to its new location on June 1. Therefore, this item is <br />scheduled for public hearing and possible action at a single meeting and provides for an immediate <br />effective date. The unanimous consent of the City Council is required for the council to enact this <br />ordinance following the public hearing. The affirmative vote of two-thirds of the council is required for <br />an effective date less than 30 days after enactment of the ordinance. <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />No relevant background is applicable. <br /> <br /> <br />RELATED CITY POLICIES <br />There are no related city policies. <br /> <br /> <br />COUNCIL OPTIONS <br /> <br /> <br />1.Adopt the ordinance as proposed at a single meeting, effective immediately. <br /> <br />2.Not act tonight, in which case action will be scheduled at a future council meeting. <br /> <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER’S RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />The City Manager recommends Option 1, adopting the ordinance at a single meeting, with an immediate <br />effective date. <br /> <br /> S:\CMO\2012 Council Agendas\M120521\S1205211.doc <br /> <br />
