ECC UGENE ITY OUNCIL AIS GENDA TEM UMMARY Public Hearing and Possible Action: An Ordinance Concerning Location of City Hall and Municipal Court; Amending Sections 1.010 and 2.772 of the Eugene Code, 1971; and Providing an Immediate Effective Date Meeting Date: May 21, 2012 Agenda Item Number: 1 Department: City Manager’s Office Staff Contact: Beth Forrest www.eugene-or.gov Contact Telephone Number: 541 682-5882 ISSUE STATEMENT Due to the relocation of City Hall offices, minor Code amendments are needed that will add a definition of “City Hall” to provide clarity throughout the Code that City Hall means the offices of the Mayor and City Manager, and amend Section 2.772 of the Eugene Code, 1971, to revise the provision that requires Municipal Court proceedings be held at 777 Pearl Street. This Code revision also grants authority to the City Manager to establish other locations at which Municipal Court may be held. The Municipal Court is scheduled to move to its new location on June 1. Therefore, this item is scheduled for public hearing and possible action at a single meeting and provides for an immediate effective date. The unanimous consent of the City Council is required for the council to enact this ordinance following the public hearing. The affirmative vote of two-thirds of the council is required for an effective date less than 30 days after enactment of the ordinance. BACKGROUND No relevant background is applicable.
