Attachment E: Text responses from retailer plastic bag ban survey
we would support this--no impact of significance
We sell paper products (books, magazines) in a pedestrian area. Cars are never close by. Customers
purchases may be damaged.
None but it would positively impact the environment.
We would not be able to package large togo containers in standard size paper bags/ this would mean a new
design would have to be used which would likely have to be very bulky. Our largest container is a square foot.
this shape does not do well in a paper bag unless it were custom made for us. A small percentage of
customers use the plastic bags anyway. But the few that do would have to accept another alternative. We do
not automatically give out plastic bags but ask the customers first if their order does not fit into our more
common #6 and #12 paper bags.
Terrible impact!!!!
not sure how farmers market customers would take home their produce....
I would have to throw out the package we have been using for the last 10 years.
We only use paper currently so it will have no impact.
increased cost due to changing product, affect profitability.
We would move to Springfield
None
I would have to invest in other methods of transporting my products to my customers. The return of the
basket?
Naturally, it would increase the cost of doing business with that size alone 400% if replaced solely by same
size paper bag. If customers use a reusable bag, then impact would diminish. However, reusable bags
present possible health issues from unsanitary customer bags.
How would I bag items unless I start buying paper bags?
0
I guess we'd have to switch to paper
None
none
cost of paper bags
I would move to another state, or another county that was less idiotic. I cannot do business here in Lane
County with all your ridiculous PC rules.
We would not have a stock of used and donated plastic shopping bags to offer. We would turn to boxes (used)
and other containers.
With time to transition, I do not see any issues.
none
We would have to provide (recycled) boxes to carry out the awkward items. Our employees would have to go
the back room to find the right size. Paper is used, but does not adequately hold most of our heavier items.
None
While I don't use them - I still don't support the idea of banning them through legislation - I wan't people to
choose my buisness because I don't use them - it sets me apart and it educates the customer. a ban will not
do this.
It would drive up costs and require me to increase prices. It is difficult to survive in the current economic
climate for both myself and my customers.
cost, storage of bags, double baging would be needed in alot of cases. paper bags are not as strong or as
reusable as the plastic we use
none
heavy
None, but this survey is noteably a waste of tax payer money.
0
