Attachment D: Text responses from consumer plastic bag ban survey
If we could put them into the weekly recycle bin for curb pickup it would be easier to recycle them
Ban
There are plenty of options, it depends on a person's reuse of the bag and the cost to recycle
All the grocery stores I frequent have a very visible plastic bag recycling container in the entrance
or just outside.
I feel like there are many recycling locations around town.
Bags with big holes and tears I take back to retail stores for recycling. All others I use for trash
can liners, trash for cleaning out the car, yard debris, wet clothes after swimming or anything else
that comes to mind.
educate public and offer more advertised collection bins
Maybe so. I almost never use them, so I don't know.
We have to get them out of the waste stream. If only we could educate the public on how
destructive plastic bags are to our wildlife.
Albertson's is the only store that makes it visible where to recycle bags.
Would like Sanipac co- mingling recycling to offer a pick up option for single use plastic bags
plastic bags can't be recycled into usefull materials. that decking they make is not durable and
just breaks down in place which is even worse than taking it to the dump.
Are all the plastic bags currently on store shelves going to be banned? Do these people working
for the ban have stock in these bags? The bags we get in the stores when we make a purchase
are pretty harmless compared to the much thicker ones on the shelves.
It would be amazing if every retail store that gives out plastic bags, has to have a recycling
receptacle as well. (Sort of like the policy with selling returnable drink containers, they have to
accept them back)
Better convenience for home recycling. Opposed to toting my plastic bags to a recycle center a
couple times a week, once every (month or two) the company the collects recycling offers a curb
side pick-up. That allows me (the consumer) the ability to not worry about remembering to carry
dirty bags, in my car, to a drop-off. Instead, I can store them, out of the way, reuse them as
available and then easily discard my surplus in a manner that won't interfere with the recycling
center.
I use them for my household trash.
They are NOT single use. That is a misnomer. I use some of them as garbage bags, paper bags
are not good garbage bags - they leak - trash bags in my car,

store things in my freezer, store household items etc.
Recycling is a PERSONAL choice, and anyone who wants to recycle can - recycle stations are
abundant in Lane County.
I also use my plastic bags for trash. I do not purchase trash bags. If the plastic ban is placed on
consumers and stores, then I will simply purchase my plastic bags for the trash.
do away with them forever
I think that instead of banning....stores need to charge for them....like 10 cents each. Then the
motivation to change behavior will be stronger
I think people should be responsible for their own actions. I do not litter and should not be
punished for those that do. Biodegradable bags would be awesome!
Even if there were other options, I think there is a segment of the population that is too lazy or just
don't care and will just throw them away anyway
I think they could be made of heavyer maiteral so they could be use more often before recycing
tjthem then more edution on recycling them
Tell me, just where are these recycling options to start with?
Need more places that have prominent recycle containers with big that say recycle plastic bags
here.
