Attachment D: Text responses from consumer plastic bag ban survey
we need a deposit on the bags
It's difficult enough for me to remember to bring my own bags every time I go to the store, having
to remember the plastic ones from my last trip makes it even harder. If I could add them in with my
recycle bucket each week, I guarantee all of them would be recycled.
waste of city time/resources
I think there are enough recycling options, however I think vendors should be trained to ask "do
you have your own bag?", or even "do you need a bag?", NOT "paper or plastic?" I often have to
say "no bag, please."
There are lots of uses for these bags, I use them for trash bags and putting other recyclables in
them for return to stores.
Many people put them in the commingle, which is not correct, or they end up in the land fill.
just more public education...handouts with utility bill, etc.
we have not enough sourses for recycle this is where we need to focuse not doing away with this
bag is a sorce to keep me from bringing jerms home
I think they should be banned. Consumers need to know about the consequences of using and
improperly disposing of the plastic bags. All retailers should have to ban using plastic. It is awful
for the environment and for our own health.
one idea might be the bag the bag idea that sanipac did once, but NOT place them in commigle
carts, place them with glass since sanipac picks up glass in separate truck by hand..then can just
get a container on their truck for plastic bags.
thay are more cost efvent
Sanipac (and the others) should provide plastic bag recycling for the homeowner, and pick them
up during the normal weekly pickups.
Stores should provide places for unwanted plastic bags.
Containers recycling of plastic bags in grocery and retail stores must be more visible and and
education program around their recycling.
All retail stores should have bins for them that are easily located.
Or ban them
Using them to line your trash can is a good option for those that don't want to recycle them for
other uses.
Paper or plastic or bring your own. I need the plastic bags to hold other things.
They need to be accepted for cubside recycling.
There are many recycling options out there (most, if not all stores and the landfill). People do not
recycle because of laziness and ignorance.
They could be put in the recycling we put out with the garbage.
@ store
More locations to recycle would be helpful, but if we are reducing or eliminating them then it may
not make sense
i would rather recycle the plastic bags rather than get a reusable bag
Donate for sleeping mats for one. They can also be crocheted into purses, or even carryout bags
for groceries, etc. Without them we have no materials to use to help the homeless, etc.
More retail stores should accept them.
I wasn't aware that I could recycle them
This just encourages people to use them more, I think
No. I just think they should be banned.
I use all the plastic bags I get for garbage!
A qualified yes. I don't think that recycling is an alternative to phase-out. But since all phase-out
might not be unilateral (many of these bans exempt restaurants) there might still be a place for
better recycling.
