Matching grants are intended to encourage residents to work collaboratively to identify and work on <br />neighborhood improvements and community-building projects. Project ideas include, but aren’t limited to: <br /> <br /> Physical improvement projects that involve recreation and public safety <br />facilities, natural resource features, public art and spaces, and community <br />gardens <br /> <br /> Public school partnership projects that benefit school children and the <br />immediate neighborhood <br /> <br /> Neighborhood-based events and celebrations <br /> <br /> Capacity-building initiatives that serve to create, diversify, or increase <br />participation in the organizations <br /> <br /> Outreach, research, education and organizing projects that address <br />planning-related topics such as transportation (pedestrian or cyclist safety), <br />land use (neighborhood or area planning) and public safety (disaster <br />planning, neighborhood mapping, neighborhood safety) <br /> <br />Grant application and guidelines are located online at http://www.eugene-or.gov/index.aspx?NID=534. Learn from a master with decades of experience preparing exquisite yet inexpensive <br />meals for cruise ships and retirement centers. He will share tips for low-cost shopping as well as for preparation of <br />dishes for older adults and others with special diets. <br /> <br />At “Laughter: A Professional Caregiver’s Best Tool,” with Leigh Anne Jasheway, discover new ways to tap into humor <br />to avoid burnout and feel happier and more productive on the job.
