Section 10.07 of the Eugene City Council Operating Agreements dictate <br />that if the Mayor or member of the City Council wish to make a council business-related trip to a <br />destination overseas, the request is to be made in writing and placed on the Consent Calendar for <br />approval by the City Council. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />Mayor Torrey has been invited to join the delegation traveling to Chinju, South Korea at the end of <br />September. His expenses for this trip are to be paid by the City. This is consistent with previous trips <br />made by other members of the City Council and previous mayors. The expense for the trip is estimated <br />to be $1,500. <br /> <br />RELATED CITY POLICIES <br />The City policy governing this issue is found in Section 10.07 of the Eugene City Council Operating <br />Agreements. <br /> <br />COUNCIL OPTIONS <br />The City Council can approve this request which will result in an expense to the city. Alternatively, it <br />can deny the request and require the Mayor to personally incur this expense. <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER'S RECOMMENDATION <br />The City Manager recommends approval of this sister city-related travel for Mayor Torrey. <br /> <br />SUGGESTED MOTION <br />Move to approve the overseas sister city travel request by Mayor Torrey in September 2004. <br /> <br /> L:\CMO\2004 Council Agendas\M040913\S0409132F.doc <br /> <br /> <br />
