<br />7:30 p.m. CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br /> Harris Hall, 125 East 8 Avenue <br />th <br /> <br />1.PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG <br /> <br /> <br />Mayor: We recite the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag this evening in honor of <br />Veterans Day on November 11. <br /> <br />In November 1919, President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed November 11 as the first <br />commemoration of Armistice Day with the following words: "To us in America, the <br />reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those <br />who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of <br />the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given <br />America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the <br />nations…" <br /> <br />I invite you all to stand and join us in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance: <br /> <br />“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic <br />for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty, and justice for <br />all.” <br /> <br />2.CEREMONIAL MATTERS <br /> <br /> <br />3.PUBLIC FORUM <br /> <br /> <br /> Mayor: The Public Forum is an opportunity for individuals to speak to the City <br />Council on any city-related issues except for those items which have already been <br />heard by a Hearings Official or are on tonight’s agenda as a public hearing. <br /> <br />Each person will have three minutes to speak. When you come to the podium, <br />please give your name, city of residence, and, for Eugene residents, your ward if <br />known. The timer and lights indicate the time you have to speak. A yellow light will <br />come on when you have 15 seconds to complete your comments. The red light <br />indicates the end of three minutes. <br /> <br /> Mayor closes Public Forum and asks for comments from the City Council. <br /> <br />4.CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br /> (Note: Time permitting, action on the Consent Calendar may be taken at <br /> the 5:30 p.m. work session.) <br /> A. Approval of Tentative Working Agenda <br /> B. Appointment to Lane Workforce Partnership Board <br /> <br />City Council President: I move to approve the items on the Consent Calendar. <br /> <br />Roll Call Vote <br /> <br /> <br />
